ABOUT THIS BOOK
Description
Because I didn’t sleep at all yesterday, after I finished the Fajr (dawn) prayer, I don’t even know when sleep like a thief stole over me—I was sitting when I fell into a deep sleep.
It was when I hit my head against the drawer that I woke up. I held my head—it was already aching, added to the stress and lack of sleep.
I held my head tightly, reciting supplications…
Before I knew it, I thought I heard the sound of his car horn.
I don’t even know when I released my head, stood up quickly, and went to the window—since my bedroom window faces the compound.
As soon as I pulled the curtain—Rass! My heart skipped.
I felt a wave of anger and sadness, as if I had swallowed my own heart.
I rushed out of the room towards the compound, not even seeing clearly in front of me because of the intensity of my anger.
Then I saw him—he had come out, and all the house guards were there greeting him.
I quickly moved towards him just as he turned and opened the front of the car.
I don’t know when I stopped, my mouth open, staring at them in shock.
She too was staring at me as she stepped out—her face filled with fear and anxiety.
Seeing the way we were staring at each other, he gently held her hand and they both started walking toward me. Before they could reach me, I had already raised my hand to stop them.
I looked at him in utter shock and said,
"What am I seeing? Nafisa in my house? What happened?"
With a blank expression, he said,
"She just came back safely."
My eyes widened and I said,
"What?! No, this is impossible. This time, I will not tolerate the nonsense and disrespect done to me before. Listen—I will not live with Nafisa in this house!"
I pointed at her and said,
"A month ago, she was brought into this house as your bride. She suddenly collapsed, and your relatives turned on me, insulting me—even my mother—accusing us of using witchcraft to destroy your marriage with Nafisa."
Hot tears rolled down my cheeks as I continued:
"Just yesterday, she was taken to your house in Abuja. We said goodbye to you, and now you bring her back here early this morning and say she has ‘returned’?"
He didn’t even look at me. He turned to her and said,
"Go inside, I’m coming."
She walked in quietly. I watched her until she disappeared inside.
Then I turned back to him and said,
"Fine. Since this is what you’ve chosen, I will leave your house right now—no delay. Go and live with the woman your mother and relatives chose for you."
He walked away without saying a word.
I felt like I would explode from anger. I went inside, furious, grabbed my bag, my phone, and my car keys.
As I turned to leave, I saw someone standing there, staring intensely, his face tense.
I ignored him, put on my shoes, and walked to the door without looking at him, trying to pass.
"Where are you going?" he asked in a low, tight voice.
I said nothing.
