ABOUT THIS BOOK
Description
A Mother's Love
Najib and Ahmad return from the hospital with their sick mother. Their deep affection for her is obvious—even the grandeur of their house and expensive cars in the compound can't overshadow it.
💞 Kamal's Obsession with Zarah
Lying in bed, a handsome 29-year-old Kamal pours out his heart:
> “There’s no greater dream in life than to have Zarah. My world was created for you, Zarah... I love you more than words.”
Unknown to him, his mother overhears. When she's had enough, she calls out:
> "Kamal! Kamal!"
He doesn’t respond. Lost in love, he only reacts when she taps his leg. Kamal quickly apologizes.
> “Sorry mommy. I didn’t know you were here. My queen!”
With a slight smile, she forgives him and tells him to come for breakfast. The bond is real.
👪 The Mansur Household
The family gathers for breakfast: Alhaji Mansur, Hajjiya Amina, Kamal, Laila, and Nasir (an extended family member brought from the village).
Kamal jokes about Nasir taking over their father’s seat, which annoys their mother.
> “Nasir, have some respect!”
Kamal comforts him:
> “Don’t worry. When I marry, that room will be yours.”
Everyone laughs. Laila teases Kamal about Zarah:
> “Yaya Kamal, I’ve never met Aunty Zarah.”
Kamal, filled with joy, says nothing—but his eyes show everything.
👨👩👧 Alhaji Mustapha's Complex Family
A rich but emotionally strained family. Alhaji Mustapha is a retired soldier and close friend of Alhaji Mansur. His household is made up of:
Two wives: Hajjiya Binta and Hajjiya Rukayya
Ex-wife: Hajjiya Samira (mother of Fatima)
Children: Faruk, Ahmad, Najib (living abroad), Fatima (a lawyer), Habib, and Khalid (both soldiers)
Despite Fatima’s brilliance and upbringing, her stepmothers often mistreat her—out of jealousy for Samira's respected legacy and Fatima’s grace.
🕌 Kamal’s Proposal
During a cheerful visit, Alhaji Mansur proposes an alliance—suggesting Kamal marry Fatima. Alhaji Mustapha is delighted.
> “This is friendship at its best, Alhaji. Thank you. Let’s prepare.”
Their spirits are lifted by the possibility of uniting through marriage.
💼 Fatima’s Silent Pain
Fatima lies exhausted after work, surrounded by case files. Just as she reaches for her phone to call Ahmad, Najib calls instead:
> “’Yar Nigeria, how are you?”
They exchange jokes, then Najib passes the phone to their mother, Hajjiya Samira.
> “Mommy, I miss you. I heard you were sick.”
> “I’m better now. I didn’t want to worry you.”
> “You’re my everything, Mama. You’ll be fine, in sha Allah.”
They talk about life, loneliness, and Fatima’s resilience. Though she hides her pain well, Samira sees through her.
> “You’re not happy there, are you?”
> “It’s not about patience, Mommy. It’s your absence I feel most.”
Before hanging up, she asks about everyone, trying to brighten the moment.
👑 The Sale Family: Wealth & Elegance
Meanwhile, in a mansion of unmatched luxury lives Alhaji Sale and his children: Mahmud (a businessman), Zarah (a heart specialist & writer), and Umar.
Zarah lounges in the sitting room, lost in her phone. Her mother, Hajjiya Sa’adatu, walks in.
> “What’s wrong, Zarah?”
> “I’m tired of always going to the hospital!”
Her mother laughs:
> “That’s why I’m waiting for you to marry Kamal, so I can rest!”
Embarrassed, Zarah rushes to her room. Her mother only chuckles more. Soon after, Alhaji Sale enters with his sons, all radiating success and pride.
ðŸ•Šï¸ Ties of Destiny
Fatima’s longing, Zarah’s denial, Kamal’s passion, and the deep family connections all weave into a tapestry of fate.
Though different in upbringing, background, and current struggles, one thing binds them all: the hope for love, peace, and belonging.
