ABOUT THIS BOOK

Description

I caught sight of a young, average-sized teenage girl lying on the bed, chatting on her phone and bursting into endless fits of laughter; it was clear that the phone call was bringing her immense joy.
Her mother approached the bedroom and began knocking, but upon hearing no response, she paused. Hearing the laughter echoing from the room, she pressed her ear against the door and realized her daughter was on the phone, overhearing some words while missing others.
Seeing that the phone call was nowhere near ending, her mother knocked on the door again, but the girl was so deeply engrossed that she had no idea anyone was there. Shocked, her mother turned the doorknob, and luckily, the door was unlocked.
She walked in with a greeting before asking, "Muhibbah, are you quite alright? Who have you been talking to on the phone all this time? I’ve been knocking repeatedly, but it was so quiet it felt like you weren't even in the room."
Muhibbah startled and sat up straight upon seeing her mother standing over her. Trying to hide her embarrassment, she said, "Mummy, were you looking for me?" Her mother threw her a knowing look before asking, "Muhibbah, who were you on the phone with?" She stood up, her heart pounding, but forced a smile at her mother and said, "It was a female friend of mine. We haven't seen each other in a long time and I had lost her contact, so she called me today," all while hiding the phone behind her back.
Her mother stared at her, astonished by the lie she was being told and wondering what she was trying to hide, especially since the tone of the call had clearly indicated she was talking to a man. Muhibbah interrupted her thoughts by saying, "Mummy, I’ll be the one to make dinner for us today! I learned a new Jollof rice recipe on my phone, and I'm certain that when you eat this meal, it will practically blow your mind.
And when Daddy eats it, he’ll definitely give me a gift!" Without waiting for her mother's response, she rushed out of the bedroom. Her mother smiled to herself and muttered, "May Allah guide this girl of mine."
She followed her out and found her sitting in the living room, watching MBC 3. Sitting down beside her, she said, "Muhibbah, even now, you are no different from a little child. Watching cartoons is all you ever do."
Muhibbah smiled and replied, "Mummy, am I really grown up? I'm only 17 years old, so you see, I still have a long way to go. You’re only saying that because you don't have a younger daughter, but just wait, I’m going to give birth to a baby for you very soon."
