Second Change Part 2 Complete Hausa Novel
Amira stepped out of the house with graceful confidence, her heels clicking softly on the paved floor. She had just come from Bintu’s sitting room where she met Faiz on his way out. The moment she was out of sight, she let out a slow sigh, steadying herself. Something was clearly off, but she refused to show it. Her strides were elegant, model-like—her poise deliberate.
Faiz watched from his car, his heart pounding slightly. He’d seen Bintu’s mood earlier, how her jealousy flared up. He could already feel the subtle tension, and the last thing he wanted was a rift between his wives. He prayed silently: May Amira not sense anything is wrong.
But he knew Amira. He could read her like a favorite book. Her face gave nothing away, but her silence screamed at him. He studied her features intently. He’d spent only two months with her, but he already discovered so many wonderful sides of her—her calmness, her gumption, her soft-heartedness. He was madly in love with her, perhaps even obsessed.
She got into the car silently. He hadn’t noticed her approach; it was her scent that awakened him. He closed his eyes and exhaled deeply—fulfilled. The smell of her perfume always stirred something inside him.
“She woke up?” he asked softly, starting the engine.
Amira, still affected by her earlier encounter with Bintu, nodded once. “Eh,” she answered flatly.
“Liar,” he said simply.
Amira blinked and looked away.
“Why would you say that?” she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
“Because I know you. You didn’t talk to her. I know you in and out.”
“We exchanged greetings,” she replied curtly, not in the mood to explain further.
He accepted her words but didn’t believe them. The awkwardness between the two women wasn’t something he could ignore, but right now, he wanted to make Amira smile again. He placed his hand on hers as he drove with the other.
“My baby,” he whispered.
Amira glanced at him briefly and looked away again.
“My queen, my sweetness… I’m so lucky to have you,” he said.
She smiled faintly, lifted his hand, and kissed it gently.
Faiz flinched slightly. “You’re turning me on,” he murmured, eyes fluttering shut for a moment.
Amira giggled. “May Allah guide you.”
“Guide me to devour you maybe,” he muttered with a mischievous smirk.
“Face the road,” she teased.
“Tell me, what was it you wanted to say earlier?” he asked.
“It’s nothing… I just wanted to apologize for what I said yesterday.”
“Forget it,” he cut her off quickly. He didn’t want to revisit the issue of Bintu.
Changing the topic, he asked, “Madam Amira, how do you feel about resuming work—with me—at the same company?”
“I don’t know…” she replied, pouting playfully.
“Come on, tell me… same office as your husband, the husband that can lift your clothes anytime and…”
“Oh no!” she interrupted, covering her face, laughing.
“That’s right. Anytime I feel like it… and you won’t be able to say no.”
“So, what about Bintu?” she asked, trying to sound casual.
“I’ll be with you, my love. I can't ever get enough of you.”
He whispered bold promises that made her blush and laugh all at once. She was falling for him even more, and Faiz knew it. She was his peace, his comfort.
The drive to work became a blend of laughter, flirtation, and soft confessions. By the time they arrived, Amira had forgotten all about her tension with Bintu.
Faiz rounded the car and opened the door for her. “Your Highness,” he said with a bow.
Amira stepped out, feeling like royalty. Her heart fluttered. The staff greeted them with warm wishes, and Faiz responded on both their behalf. Amira only smiled shyly.
Inside her office, she was met with a surprise—red roses everywhere, soft flakes on the ground, and golden letters on the wall that read I LOVE YOU and WELCOME BACK.
She gasped audibly, tears threatening to fall. Turning, she hugged Faiz tightly. “It’s so beautiful… I love you so much,” she whispered.
“I love you more,” he replied, his voice tender.
“I doubted your love once. I was wrong,” she admitted.
“You shouldn’t have. You’re everything to me.”
They held each other like new lovers, their emotions too heavy for words. She kissed him again and again, overwhelmed with gratitude and joy.
“Let me show you something else,” Faiz said.
They stepped outside to where a car was parked, covered and locked.
“Whose car is this?” Amira asked.
“Yours,” he said simply.
She gasped, lost for words. “Mine? I… I don’t believe this.”
“Believe it. Just don’t cry. Or cry in bed—your choice.”
“Faiz!” she gasped, hitting his chest playfully, tears welling up anyway.
“I wanted to give it to you earlier, but... you’re not the only one, so I had to be careful.”
“I understand,” she said sincerely. “Thank you so much.”
He leaned into her ear. “Now, what do I get in return?”
Amira laughed. “What do I even have to give?”
“Everything,” he replied, licking his lips as he stared at her chest.
“Dan Allah ka daina…”
“But I want to travel with you. Just us, no clothes.”
“Ni ban zuwa.”
“We’ll see,” he smirked.
They returned to her office and had breakfast together. Faiz spent nearly the whole day with her there. Even when work was calling, he didn’t want to leave. She threatened to resign if he kept turning her office into a bedroom. Only then did he leave.
Meanwhile, Bintu lay in bed, stewing in jealousy. She tried to dismiss her feelings but failed. Amira was out there working, looking radiant, laughing with Faiz. And here she was, confined to the house.
She called her mother.
“I want to work,” she said.
Her mother hissed. “Didn’t I tell you to let him marry one wife? You refused. So don’t complain now.”
The call ended abruptly. Alone, Bintu wept silently.
“She’s the office wife. I’m the house wife,” she muttered bitterly.
For the first time, she realized the true sting of jealousy.
