ABOUT THIS BOOK
Description
As soon as he finished speaking, he turned around and went back inside the hall. Meanwhile, Fawan was just speeding down the asphalt road, completely consumed by an evil, furious mood. On her part, seeing how fast he was driving with a dark scowl on his face—and since she didn't know what offense she had committed against him—she decided to just ignore him. Maisoon, after all, was never one to back down when it came to pride.
They had traveled a long distance, though they hadn't yet reached the house, when he pulled over to the side of the road, parked, turned off the engine, and turned around to subject her to a vulgar, piercing stare. He lifted his trembling hand, intending to place it near the side of her hips that pressed against the edge of the car seat, but he quickly withdrew it, remembering exactly who he had picked up. She watched his every move from the corner of her eye with sheer bewilderment, but she said nothing to him.
About ten minutes passed before she heard his voice drop as he said, "So this is the immorality you go out to display at your friends' wedding parties? Is this the upbringing you were taught at home? You want to ruin our dignity, and you're displaying my property to worthless men outside! What kind of shamelessness is this, Maisoon?" he concluded, raising his voice.
With pure astonishment written all over her beautiful face, she stared at him, listening to these ridiculous words of his, but she still said nothing.
"Am I not talking to you? Why are you just staring at me? Who on earth gave you permission to come here and act so shamelessly?"
"My father," she snapped unexpectedly.
He widened his eyes in shock and said, "What did you say?"
"I said my father gave me permission to come," she replied, completely unbothered.
"Okay, and is he the one who gave you the upbringing to do useless dances among men?"
"Yes, just as he gave you the permission to pick me up, insult me, and stare at me as if I am your wife," she retorted while picking up a call coming in from Yaseer. Putting it to her ear, she said, "Hello."
"Hi beautiful lady, where are you? Who took you away and left me missing you? Even Aisha is looking all over for you."
"Oh dear, by Allah, it's just someone... just ignore him, it's no trouble. We'll speak tomorrow. Tell sweetheart we'll meet at home."
Before Yaseer could respond, Fawan, his heart boiling with rage, snatched the phone away. He leaned in very close to her, so close that they could feel each other's breath, and staring directly into her eyes, he said, "So you have the nerve to talk back to me because you see me pampering you? You even have the audacity to answer another useless man's call right in front of me? Hmm, you will certainly find out. You're asking why I'm hovering over you and watching you as if you're my mother? Well, you spoke no lie, because you are my wife and my property. I will prove that to you, and then I'll see how you'll ever have the chance to speak back to me, no matter what I do to you—not just watching you."
With all her might, Maisoon shoved him off, causing him to fall back against his seat. Infuriated by his words, she said, "Allah forbid that I ever become the wife of a man like you, Yah Fawan! By Allah, I am way out of your league, and I will never marry you. Because by Allah, I am the wife of a pure, sacred man, not a thoughtless person like you. By Allah, those things of mine that are catching your eye will continue to torment you, because they were never created for you anyway. A dog will just have to die in its envy of the hyena!"
As soon as she finished speaking, she forcefully unlocked the car door and stepped out. A lump of bitter frustration choked Fawan. Angry with himself for not locking the car doors earlier, he muttered, "Are you really talking back to me, damn you, Maisoon? Hmm, by Allah, you will pay for this. I will never waste my time begging for your love like Umma suggested. I'll just go straight to Abbey, and then I'll show you that my madness far exceeds yours."
With that, he drove off furiously, leaving the spot.
