ABOUT THIS BOOK

Description

A Lavish Morning at the Mansion

Alhaji Shu’aib Abba sat comfortably in his grand living room, holding his iPhone X, visibly joyful during a phone call. Just then, Hajiya Kubrah descended the stairs with elegance, her poise and aura exuding wealth, knowledge, and refined confidence. Her entrance alone could confirm her high status and experience in life.

She walked over gracefully, her face glowing with a subtle smile she knew would charm her husband. As she sat beside him, their bodies lightly touching, her fragrance gently filled the air. Alhaji Shu’aib adjusted his seat, put his phone down, and looked at her glowing face, lightly made up.

"You’re just coming down, Madam, and I’m about to leave," he said.

She smiled warmly. "Well, Daddy Yusrah, I’m here now. By the way, who’s picking Yusrah from the airport? You know her flight lands by 5. She doesn’t like the driver coming alone to get her."

Before he could respond, a pleasant voice greeted them from the entrance. Their eyes turned to the door.

Shureim Returns Home

A handsome young man entered—neatly dressed in casual wear, his youthful charm evident. He greeted warmly and knelt near his father.

“Good morning, Daddy,” he said.

Alhaji Shu’aib smiled, rubbing his son’s hair. “Good morning, my son. How was the trip?”

Shureim replied with a grin, “All good, Daddy.”

He turned to Hajiya Kubrah, resting his head gently on her lap. “Momy, good morning.”

She patted his head affectionately. “Good morning, my son. How was your journey?”

“All good, Momy,” he said as he stood, rubbing his belly. “I’m starving! Let me eat first—then we’ll chat.”

As he walked to the dining area, his father teased, “This boy is pampered beyond belief.”

Hajiya Kubrah chuckled. “Let him be. You go ahead, I’ll ensure Yusrah gets picked up. If Shureim isn’t free, I’ll go myself with the driver.”

Shureim settled down at the dining table, enjoying chips and a rich pepper soup. He ate calmly, in a manner full of class. After nearly 30 minutes, he returned to the living room where his mother was reading a Daily Trust newspaper.

“Done eating?” she asked, setting the paper aside.

He nodded and sat beside her. They chatted like close friends. Most of the conversation revolved around his recent two-month seminar in London.

“Momy,” he said teasingly, “I heard Yusrah’s coming today. Get ready, ‘cause my ears will suffer from all her chatter.”

Hajiya Kubrah laughed. “Don’t say that. That’s my baby girl you’re talking about.”

“I’m off to see Sudais before he leaves for the hospital,” Shureim said as he stood.

“Take care,” his mother replied, heading upstairs.

A Shocking Discovery

Shureim stepped into the parking lot, filled with luxury cars. He entered a sleek new black car—clearly fresh from the showroom. The house staff respectfully greeted him. Shureim was well-loved for his kindness and generosity.

He drove with calm expertise toward Garki after calling Dr. Sudais to let him know he was on the way. After leaving Sudais’ place, he decided to stop by his father’s guest house—his favorite place for solitude.

When he arrived, the security man welcomed him warmly. But Shureim was surprised to see both his father’s and Alhaji Adam’s cars parked outside. He assumed it was business-related.

He headed straight to the lush garden. It was a paradise of greenery, filled with bird songs and resting chairs. He played a game of snooker, then lounged for a while, browsing Snapchat, Instagram, and Facebook.

Eventually, he walked back into the house, grabbing a bottle of cold water from the fridge. After drinking, he went upstairs, assuming he’d find his father in the upper living room. But the silence was eerie.

He thought they might be resting in their rooms, so he approached his own bedroom. As he pushed open the door, everything stopped.

The Unthinkable

The sight before him made his knees weak. He slammed the door shut, clutching his forehead with trembling hands. His breath caught in his throat—he had never seen anything so horrifying.

Desperate to clear his mind, he stumbled toward his father’s room. But when he opened the door, a scream escaped his lips, and he collapsed on the floor in shock and tears.

The cry startled Alhaji Shu’aib, who hurried to cover himself. But it was too late.

Their eyes met.

“Shu...shu...Shureim,” Alhaji Shu’aib stuttered, horrified.

Tears streamed down his face as his deepest secret—one he had buried for years—was now exposed to his beloved son.

Shureim lay unconscious on the floor.

Awakening and Betrayal

When Shureim woke up, he was upstairs in the same mansion. Alhaji Shu’aib and Alhaji Adam stood over him, visibly shaken. Shureim opened his eyes slowly, remembering every disturbing detail. He shut his eyes again, praying it was all a dream.

But the faces of his father and uncle confirmed it wasn’t.

Tears rolled down his cheeks. Alhaji Shu’aib, overwhelmed by guilt, knelt beside his son, reaching for his hand.

But Shureim jerked his hand away, glaring at him with a look filled with hate and betrayal. That look shattered Alhaji Shu’aib’s soul.

Alhaji Adam spoke softly, “Shureim, don’t condemn your father for what your eyes witnessed. It was the devil’s work...a moment of weakness. We are deeply remorseful.”

Shureim stood up unsteadily, not even waiting to hear more. As far as he was concerned, nothing they could say would erase what he had seen. His respect, love, and trust were broken—perhaps forever.
