ABOUT THIS BOOK
Description
“What kind of heart does he even have?? Hmph… just a cold-hearted person.”
“Are you talking?” she suddenly heard his voice interrupt her again.
She quickly covered her mouth and shook her head fast.
“No, I wasn’t talking.”
She said it as she moved toward the dressing mirror to get ready. She applied sweet-smelling body oils, then quickly stepped out into the sitting room.
He watched her secretly as she left the bedroom, noticing the way she walked—she was simply enduring everything; she had two wounds now, one on her hand and another from this whole situation.
He continued his research on his laptop. He had never been to Japan before—this would be his first time. Yet, he felt an unusual happiness that day, though he didn’t understand why.
After about fifteen minutes, he had finished everything he wanted to check. He came into the living room and saw Zainabu sitting in the middle, surrounded by different kinds of food—as if she hadn’t eaten for a whole year.
He sat down on the couch, pretending to watch the plasma TV tuned to G.M.A. But Zainabu didn’t even glance at him. At first, he ignored her, but eventually his attention returned to her.
He was surprised at how she was eating—drinking soda, eating meat, devouring everything in front of her. He just shook his head in his mind and thought:
“What kind of girl is this? Do women really eat like this?”
“What’s with that look? You should know I’m very observant,” Zainabu said, glaring at him with attitude.
“Hmmm…” he touched his lips and rubbed the side of his face. Honestly, he didn’t feel like eating anything—he already felt satisfied just having what his heart had long desired.
He glanced at her sideways, then smiled slightly, revealing a bit of his dimples.
“I’m just surprised.”
“Surprised? About what?” Zainabu asked, tearing into a piece of meat and stuffing it into her mouth, as if she was annoyed even while eating.
He adjusted his sitting position, clearly trying to provoke her. He just felt like annoying her.
“The way you eat—I have to be surprised. I’ve never seen a woman eat like you,” he said, mocking her.
Instead of being offended, she burst into laughter, completely turning his intention around. Then she said:
“Well, now you’ve seen it—me, Zainabu! That’s why I have strength too, just like the law itself.”
