Ma'u is imprisoned in a dark room, her body trembling from sustained abuse. She tries to move but is too weak. Her captor, once her lover and husband, Ahmad, now a brutal tormentor, strips her of dignity. Her tears have dried up; her spirit nearly broken. Her hands shackled, she can barely speak. Trapped Dreams
In contrast, Salisu, a man imprisoned unjustly, reflects on the tyranny that brought him to jail. He remembers the day he was dragged away in front of his father, accused falsely for defending his village’s farmland. He now languishes in a cell, haunted by the day—November 26, 2022.
His cellmate, curious and kind, questions him, but Salisu barely has the strength to answer. He wonders why justice fails the poor and why man’s greed triumphs over community. Despite his pain, he clings to hope that truth will prevail.
 
Warnings Ignored
Back in Zuhra's home, an elderly woman visits. She warns Zuhra's mother, Hajara, that she is ruining her daughter's future by chasing riches and ignoring morals. Hajara dismisses her with scorn, confident in her choices.
 
Shadows and Regrets
Ma'u remains a prisoner, counting days—a full month now in captivity. Her soul wilts. She yearns to turn back time, to amend her mistakes. She doesn't know how her loved ones are faring but assumes they have given up on her.
Meanwhile, we are introduced to Kura village in Kano. A farming community of hardworking people, including those like Salisu, whose only crime was protecting their land.
 
The story contrasts innocence with cruelty, wealth with suffering, and pride with downfall. Characters like Ma'u and Salisu suffer for trust and justice, while Zuhra lives unbothered, wrapped in illusions. But life's wheel turns—and fate remembers all.
