Hafsah’s Simple Life
Hafsah was a housewife who lived a modest life with her husband, Anas, and their two children, Sultan and Safyan. She always wished for a better life, filled with luxury and comfort. She admired the rich women in her WhatsApp group, who always posted pictures of their expensive clothes, beautiful homes, and delicious meals.
Despite her simple life, Hafsah was once content. She loved her husband, who worked hard to provide for them, and she adored her children, who brought joy into her life. However, the more she scrolled through social media, the more she began to feel like her life was not enough. The fancy lifestyles of others made her feel like she was missing out on something greater.
Longing for a Better Life
Hafsah often compared her life with those of the wealthy women in her group. She wanted to live in a big house, have servants, and enjoy fancy food every day. She felt tired of her daily struggles—fetching water, cooking, and washing clothes. While her husband was kind and caring, she wished he had more money to provide a luxurious life.
Her best friend, Maman Nasmah, always encouraged her to appreciate what she had, reminding her that true happiness did not come from material wealth. But Hafsah could not shake off her desire for more. She started avoiding her old friends who lived modest lives like hers and began associating more with the rich women in her online group.
Social Media Influence
Spending time on social media made Hafsah more desperate for a rich lifestyle. She saw women traveling, wearing designer clothes, and hosting grand parties. She began to feel ashamed of her simple home and ordinary clothes. To impress her online friends, she even sent them a fake picture, pretending it was hers.
She spent hours browsing online stores, wishing she could afford expensive dresses, shoes, and jewelry. She began asking Anas for more money, making excuses about household expenses. Anas, being a responsible husband, always provided what he could, but he could not fulfill her growing demands for luxury.
A Growing Distance
As Hafsah’s obsession with wealth grew, she became unhappy with her husband. She started comparing him to rich men, feeling frustrated that he could not give her the life she dreamed of. This created a distance between them, and she started ignoring him and their children.
Anas, who had always been patient and loving, noticed the change. "Hafsah, what is happening? You seem so distant lately," he asked one evening as she sat scrolling through her phone.
"Nothing, I am just tired," she responded, not looking up. But deep inside, she was drowning in her own unrealistic expectations.

Hafsah wiped her tears and finally spoke the truth. "I feel like we don’t have enough. I want more. I see other women living in comfort, traveling, wearing beautiful clothes. And I feel… I feel like I deserve that too."
Anas sighed and held her hands. "Hafsah, do you think those women are truly happy? Many of them post only the best parts of their lives. You do not see their struggles, their pain, or their disappointments. We have love, peace, and a happy home. That is more valuable than gold."
A Lesson in Contentment
One day, Hafsah’s friend, Maman Nasmah, helped her buy an expensive fabric for a group event. While she was happy, she also felt guilty for lying to her husband about the money. Anas later found out about the lie and confronted her, asking why she had changed so much.
Realizing how much she had hurt her family, Hafsah felt ashamed. She understood that chasing a life of wealth was making her unhappy. She had a loving husband and beautiful children, which were far more valuable than money. She apologized to Anas and promised to focus on her real blessings instead of comparing her life to others.
Finding Happiness in Simplicity
Hafsah slowly started appreciating her simple life again. She spent more time with her husband and children and reduced her time on social media. She realized that true happiness was not in wealth but in love, peace, and family.
She started spending her free time learning new skills like sewing and baking, which gave her a sense of accomplishment. Her love for her husband grew stronger as she realized how much he had sacrificed for their family.
