ABOUT THIS BOOK

Description

They suddenly saw him collapse to the ground unconscious.
Everyone screamed at once and rushed toward him, calling his name in fear and panic.
Khamal immediately ran inside the house shouting,
"Daddy! Daddy!"
But before he reached him, he ran into Daddy himself, who had already rushed out after hearing the screams.
Pulling Daddy's hand desperately, Khamal cried out,
"We are in serious trouble Daddy. Hafees is also not well. He just collapsed over there wallahi."
A terrible fear gripped Daddy and Mom, who stood behind him. Deep inside their hearts, they silently prayed to Allah for ease and protection while repeatedly thinking about Hafees, hoping he was not suffering from the same illness as Hakeem.
The moment Alhaji Ali saw the condition his son was in, he quickly ordered them to carry him to the hospital because this was far beyond what could be handled at home.
They hurriedly placed him inside the car while crying uncontrollably.
Fahad started the engine and sped out of the house, while Mom remained behind making prayers and wiping tears from her eyes.
Immediately they arrived at the hospital, Hakeem was rushed straight into the emergency room.
Even Daddy himself could not go inside. His colleagues were the ones attending to Hakeem.
Hafees kept crying, and so did Khamal and the others. Daddy tried his best to calm them down even though he himself was silently breaking apart inside.
Nearly three hours had passed since Hakeem was taken into the emergency room, yet no doctor had come out.
Several times Daddy tried to enter, but each time he stopped himself.
While they waited anxiously, Daddy's phone rang. It was Alhaji Salman, whom everyone called Abba.
The moment he answered the call, Daddy burst into tears while speaking to his elder brother because honestly there was nobody else he could lean on at that moment since they were all his children.
"Subhanallah Aliyu, what exactly happened?" Alhaji Salman asked in panic.
Immediately Babu, who was seated nearby, lifted his head and looked at Alhaji Salman.
If you remember, Alhaji Jafar is the one his children call Babu, Hafees' grandfather.
They were all seated together in Babu's sitting area — Alhaji Salman, Alhaji Faruk, and their mother Mama Bintu.
Everyone fixed their eyes on Alhaji Salman waiting to hear what had happened.
Meanwhile, Alhaji Salman's attention remained fully on his younger brother as Aliyu explained Hakeem's condition to him. Then he added that their greatest problem now was that the special injections Hakeem needed for treatment had already finished for the month, and there was no immediate solution available.
"Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji'un," Alhaji Salman kept repeating softly before saying,
"Calm yourself Aliyu. In sha Allah within the next few weeks I will arrange Hakeem's marriage myself, and personally bring his wife to Saudi."
Daddy released a deep breath of relief, feeling overwhelming love for his family deep inside his heart.
Alhaji Salman continued comforting and reassuring him until they finally ended the call.
"Has Hakeem's illness become serious again Salman?" Alhaji Faruk asked sorrowfully.
Alhaji Salman simply nodded quietly because pity for the boy had completely overtaken him, especially after the promise he just made to arrange a marriage for Hakeem without even knowing who the bride would be.
As for Babu, he simply watched them silently without saying anything because he had always wanted Hakeem married ever since he turned twenty years old. But his parents listened to Hakeem whenever he said he did not want marriage. According to Babu, they spoiled him too much by accepting his stubbornness.
Mama Bintu remained quiet for a moment before asking,
"So now, who exactly are you planning to marry to him?"
Alhaji Salman fell silent briefly before replying,
"Wallahi Mama, that is exactly what I am thinking about too. Almost every girl in this family who is old enough for marriage is already engaged or married. Only Mansurah remains unsettled, but with Hajje and Saudatu's trouble, I am not sure."
"I already arranged Mansurah's marriage because Yaseer said he wants her. I think we should finalize their marriage immediately because we have already discussed it with Baba Buhari," Alhaji Faruk explained.
"Then in that case, maybe I should look for the relatives of my late friend's daughter. If they agree, we can ask for her hand for Hakeem. Honestly I want the girl to return to us, but they refused before. And wallahi I do not want her growing up among strangers and different tribes."
"That troublesome granddaughter of yours will even agree to this?" Alhaji Faruk asked jokingly.
Mama Bintu sighed before saying,
"The issue is not whether she will agree. The real question is whether Hakeem himself can live peacefully with her. You all know these children did not grow up here. Their lifestyles and attitudes are completely different. And as for that girl, she is extremely stubborn."
Alhaji Salman nodded thoughtfully in agreement.
Mama Bintu smiled before saying,
"That is exactly why I want them married. Marriage is the only thing that can make her people release her back to us. Once she marries him, she will calm down, and Hakeem will finally have a wife. That means killing two birds with one stone."
She finished speaking with a smile.
The rest of them also smiled before continuing their discussion.
Before the conversation ended, Mama Bintu informed them that very early the next morning she would personally go to Gurum village to speak with the girl's maternal relatives.
