Alhaji Shu’aibu’s Joyful Morning
Alhaji Shu’aibu Abba sat comfortably in the large sitting room of his house, holding an iPhone X in his hand. Judging by the smile on his face, he was clearly overjoyed during the call.
From the staircase came down Hajiya Kubra, walking gracefully like a queen. One glance was enough to recognize her elegance — the kind of woman you couldn’t just look at once and turn away. You’d stare for a while before even realizing you were doing so. She was tall and dressed modestly but stylishly, with her veil neatly pinned and a touch of perfume lingering as she walked.
Exciting News Unfolds
She joined her husband in the sitting room. “Who was that on the phone?” she asked softly.
Alhaji replied with excitement, “It was Aminu, from the company. They've finally accepted the proposal. He said the payment will be made on Monday.”
Kubra clapped joyfully. “Alhamdulillah! Finally, all your efforts paid off. May Allah bless your hustle.”
As they chatted, their youngest daughter, little Rufaida, ran in with her shoes squeaking. She jumped into her father's lap, interrupting their moment.
Meanwhile at Nana Asma’u's House
Elsewhere, in a modest but neat house, Nana Asma’u sat weaving a cap, her eyes red and tired. She looked up when she heard her sister, Rukayya, coughing badly in the next room.
“Asma’u,” called out Rukayya weakly, “please bring me some water.”
Asma’u quickly dropped her cap and rushed to fetch water. She returned and gently helped her sick sister drink.
“Thank you,” Rukayya whispered. “May Allah reward you.”
Asma’u forced a smile but deep down, her heart was heavy. Their condition was dire, with barely anything left to eat and no money to buy medicine. Their parents had passed away, leaving them to fend for themselves in this harsh world.
A Plan in Motion
Later that day, as Alhaji Shu’aibu prepared to head to his office, he told Kubra, “I want us to extend some help this week. Allah has blessed us — we shouldn’t forget those who have nothing.”
Kubra agreed wholeheartedly. “You’re right. In fact, there’s a widow and her sister not far from here. Their situation is heartbreaking.”
Alhaji nodded. “Please prepare a food package. And I’ll send Aminu with some cash to help them buy medicine and other things.”
He kissed her forehead and walked out with pride — not because of his wealth, but because of his heart.
An Unexpected Gift
When Aminu arrived at Nana Asma’u’s house later that day, the girls were surprised. He introduced himself and handed them a food package and an envelope with cash.
“From Alhaji Shu’aibu,” he said with a smile. “He said to greet you and pray for you.”
Tears welled up in Asma’u’s eyes. “We didn’t even ask anyone… and yet Allah sent help.”
Rukayya, struggling to sit, added, “May Allah reward him with Jannah.”
Kindness Goes Full Circle
As the week went on, Rukayya started recovering, thanks to the medicine they bought. The sisters resumed their small sewing business, and soon, Asma’u began planning to expand it.
What started as a random act of kindness changed their lives — not because the money solved everything, but because someone cared.
