ABOUT THIS BOOK

Description

The Dark Pact
Darkness had completely taken over the place; you would never believe there was any living being there at all. From somewhere deep and low, a woman’s voice spoke:
“As long as I’m still breathing, I swear Affah will curse that child.”
Her accomplice let out a wicked laugh and replied, “That’s why I said we should sacrifice our night’s sleep and come here so our desire can be fulfilled.”
Suddenly, a harsh and frightening voice rose, as though it was not even night: “You are liars and cursed. If you truly want your wish to be granted, you must do exactly what I told you from the beginning.”
They stared at one another, as if hoping to see each other’s faces. One of them spoke again: “We repent, our protector. Have mercy on us. We couldn’t do what you asked. Please find us another way, for the greatness of your power.”
The voice softened slightly. “There is only one way—no alternative. And once it comes from my mouth, you must carry it out, no matter what.”
Trembling, they answered together, “We agree.”
He let out a foolish, evil laugh. “In exchange for that wish, you will give the blood of your children. I will send a spirit to begin collecting them. You will return home and watch—my work will exceed your expectations.”
They cried silently in regret for agreeing to something they did not fully understand. Having lost their children, they returned home with hearts full of bitterness, yet deep inside they renewed their oath to destroy the one they hated.
Death, Regret, and Broken Homes
With greetings on his lips, he entered his father’s room and calmly sat on the floor near his father’s feet. “Affah, good morning.”
The old man smiled. “Good morning, blessed son. How are you today?”
With a face like someone about to cry, he replied, “Alhamdulillah.”
Affah was about to speak when his wife rushed in without greeting. “Affah, come quickly—Nadiya is dying.”
The young man immediately stood up to rush to his sister’s aid, knowing his father could not move as fast as he could.
When he arrived, Nadiya was rambling incoherently. It was a painful sight. He approached gently, heavy with grief and weakness.
Bawo’s cries filled the place as she watched her only daughter die—everything was the result of her selfish ambition. Right there, she swore she would marry Affah and prove to her rival that she was not the only one skilled in the wicked schemes of co-wives.
Zulaihat watched AHYAN as he poured water on Nadiya. Rage filled her heart; she felt like strangling him until he stopped breathing—after all, Nadiya would not live past that day.
Aftermath and Intertwined Destinies
After two hours, Zulaihat looked pitiful. She felt as though death would be a relief. Nadiya was gone, and AHYAN was left to face the consequences. By God’s will, Nadiya left behind three children—one boy and two girls.
AHYAN sat with Affah, fingering his prayer beads. His face revealed nothing—neither praise nor exposure—only emptiness.
Affah, however, felt Nadiya’s death reopen the wound of his wife’s passing; his heart grew unbearably heavy.
After Nadiya was buried, Bawo continued crying, already planning to return to the sorcerer within two days to confirm the success of his work.
That night, Zulaihat dressed in black and went straight to the graveyard to complete the sorcerer’s task. Fearless, she dug up a fresh grave, placed a charm in the corpse’s mouth, covered it back carefully, and left as the call to prayer began.
Later, Amanah endured cruelty in her stepmother’s house, finding solace only in prayer, while Mama Lami stood up against injustice, reminding her rival that life is temporary and that children may one day suffer the same fate at the hands of co-wives.
Elsewhere, Ahyan received a message from Affah asking him to come home. Unable to speak, he replied by text, explaining his condition and suggesting they talk on WhatsApp instead.
Life continued—full of silence, cruelty, regret, and unseen battles—each character trapped in the consequences of jealousy, ambition, and dark choices.
