ABOUT THIS BOOK

Description

A Queen and Her Mirror
Khalisah sat before her mirror, adjusting the layers of her luxurious lace turban, the type that costs well over ₦250,000. She was applying her silver earrings when Zubaina, her maid, burst in, visibly shaken.

> “Ranki shi dad’e! Just now, Deen’s mother left this house crying. She met with Mai Martaba, accusing you of turning her son against her. She claims he’s selling her gold and properties just to impress you…”

Khalisah smiled at her reflection, brushing her already-perfect brows and exposing her golden-toothed smile.

> “So, she’s finally shown her jealousy. But don’t worry… a better one will come after him.”

Zubaina looked stunned. She’d expected tears or rage, not this.

🍦 Ice Cream & Intrigue

Later, they headed to Fada Airport to receive Dr. Khalid and his wife, Habiba. As they waited, Khalisah decided to stretch her legs and explore the terminal. She spotted a beautifully decorated snack and ice cream joint and chose a shaded table under a large umbrella.

As her maids stood behind her, she ordered, “Get us three bottled waters,” while calmly enjoying chocolate from her handbag, smiling faintly at her phone screen.

From a corner, Attahir, who had been watching her since her entrance, walked toward her in his crisp suit. He dismissed his guards and approached alone.

> “Good afternoon, beautiful lady.”

Khalisah didn’t look up. “Good afternoon,” she replied coolly.

> “May I sit?”
She gestured at her phone. “Do as you please.”

> “Thanks, beautiful.”

She gave him a side-eye and raised an eyebrow.

> “No one’s told you how beautiful you are?”

> “Maybe, but hearing it from someone I don’t know hits different.”

He introduced himself as Attahir Ishaq Jingim, a businessman returning from China. She returned the courtesy with poise.

After a pleasant chat, they exchanged contacts. When the bill came, the cashier said it had been paid by the gentleman. Khalisah frowned.

> “Ashe yana yunkurin nemanmu da kyau ne?”
She left the table with regal flair.

🛬 Dr. Khalid’s Arrival

Dr. Khalid’s flight finally landed. The moment he descended, his eyes locked on his niece, Khalisah, who now stood matured, grown, and radiant. She pouted playfully.

> “You’ve become a big man, Uncle.”

> “And you’ve become a big woman, little one.”

> “Anty, how do you carry this big man around with ease?”

> “He’s my joy, my child,” Habiba laughed.

They laughed and headed for their cars, surrounded by greetings from waiting palace members.

💘 Attahir: Love at First Sight

Back at his hotel, Attahir couldn’t get Khalisah out of his mind. He postponed his trip to Plateau, booked a hotel room nearby, and vowed to find her before anyone else did. “Royal blood isn't free,” he told himself.

Meanwhile, Khalisah spent the day with Dr. Khalid and Habiba, helping in the kitchen, setting up dinner, and bonding over laughter. That evening, she assisted with baby care and awaited her maids to escort her back inside.

📞 Endless Calls & a Visitor

Her phone rang multiple times. Irritated, she answered after the third call.

> “Haba! What’s with the endless calls? Haven’t you prayed yet?”

It was Attahir.

> “Forgive me, my queen. I just wanted to make sure you’re not asleep.”

She rolled her eyes, suspicious about his religious diligence.

Later, palace guards informed her of a guest waiting. She sighed and told Dr. Khalid, “Someone’s here to see me. I’ll just handle it in my sitting room.”

> “No. Let him come here. I want to see him afterward,” he insisted.

💼 The Briefcase Surprise

That evening, a maid arrived holding a briefcase from the visitor—Attahir. Khalisah scoffed.

> “Who said I’m for sale? What’s inside?”

Habiba took the case, opened it, and gasped.

> “Money. Bundles of fresh dollars. Neatly arranged.”

Khalisah’s eyes widened. She rushed to the phone and called Dr. Khalid.

> “We have a problem…”

> “I do too. Wait for me—I’m coming. And hold Khalisah back from doing anything rash.”
