ABOUT THIS BOOK
Description
Her entering the room coincided exactly with her raising the bottle, trying to bring it to her mouth.
With extreme speed and agility, she snatched the bottle away and threw it. The moment it hit the wall of the room, it shattered and broke into pieces.
She looked at her in shock and intense fear, saying, "What am I about to witness, Sumayya? Don't tell me you are trying to kill yourself?"
She burst into tears. "What brought you here at this exact moment? What did you come to do, Salma?"
"Answer the question I asked you first. Why would you kill yourself, when you know the judgment for whoever does that, even in the sight of Allah?"
Amidst loud wailing, she said, "Yes, you spoke the truth. I am going to kill myself! I am going to die! It is better for me to die so everyone can have peace. If I die, that will be the end of it."
Seeing how hard she was crying, she hugged her. "That is enough. You don't need to die. Life is what suits you, not death. What is hurting you this deeply?"
Sniffling, they both sat down on the bed.
"Salma, I would rather die than marry him! It is better to say that I am dead. If Baba wants to, he can just send my corpse to his house," she said, wiping the tears from her eyes.
She held her forehead. "Oh My God, please Sumayya, not again! I thought we had already finished this discussion with you."
"We haven't finished, Salma. As long as it is about Jauro, we will never be finished until the day this marriage is called off."
"For Allah's sake, what is your problem with Jauro that makes you hate him this much? I don't see anything wrong with the boy."
She gave her a disdainful look. "Do you even know who Jauro is? Have you ever seen him?"
"Yes, isn't he that tall, fair guy who keeps a well-groomed beard?"
She let out a massive, annoyed hiss. "Well, it's Sulaiman you saw, not Jauro! I know Sulaiman is reasonably handsome, and he isn't even my class because he teaches at a secondary school, but by Allah, I would rather marry him than marry Jauro."
