ABOUT THIS BOOK

Description

In extreme distress and suffering from severe lower abdominal pain, Manal stumbled back home. The moment she entered the house, she collapsed in the living room next to Mama and burst into a heart-wrenching sob.
Panicked, Mama fumbled in the dark for a flashlight beside her and asked, "Manal, what's wrong? Why are you crying? Mubeena! Mubeena!! Come quickly!"
Mubeena came rushing out and held Manal. Mama asked, "What is wrong with her? Manal, are you okay?"
Seeing how Manal was writhing against Mubeena, clutching her abdomen, stretching, and crying in agony, Mubeena said, "Mama, it's her menstrual cramp pain."
Mama shook her head and exclaimed, "Ya Rasulullah! So there will be no sleep for us tonight." Manal kept tossing and turning, crying from the intense pain tearing through her lower abdomen and back.
Mama said, "Your father isn't home right now, so we'll have to call Surayya—there's an injection she usually gives her for relief. May Allah grant that Surayya hasn't fallen asleep yet."
Mubeena said, "I'll go get her," and hurried out. Before long, she returned with Surayya, who administered the injection into a vein in Manal's arm.
Mama instructed, "Surayya, please help me with some warm water. There's a small towel in my room—flash a light, fetch it, and soak it in the warm water."
Surayya obliged, did as Mama asked, and brought the towel back. Mama removed Manal's hijab, lifted her shirt slightly, and placed the warm towel on her stomach, gently pressing it down. Manal lay resting in Mama's lap—because whenever Manal was ill, there was nowhere else she would lie except against Mama.
Manal continued to weep while resting against Mama, who kept praying over her. Just then, Baba entered with a greeting, which they returned. Seeing Manal in that state, he asked, "Has her pain flared up again?"
Mama replied, "She's actually feeling a bit better now."
"May Allah grant her swift recovery," he said, looking at her. They answered with "Amen" just before he sat down, watching Manal as sleep slowly overtook her.
Meanwhile, listening to what Bebi was saying, Huzaifa felt like slapping him out of sheer frustration. He couldn't fathom what kind of person Bebi was or what was wrong with him—he simply couldn't control his anger or hide his distress for even a short while; he always wanted to act on his impulses immediately. Huzaifa had heard everything, right up to the moment Manal turned away while Bebi opened the car door and got in, his entire demeanor radiating pure rage and deep trouble.
