ABOUT THIS BOOK
Description
She ran frantically through the deep, menacing darkness of the forest, even though it wasn't night yet—the time was barely between 4:30 and 5:00 PM. The heavy footsteps of the people she could hear behind her made her certain that they hadn't stopped chasing her and were right on her heels. A sob escaped her, and she began to cry, gasping for breath. She didn't understand why there were so many cruel people in this world. She didn't know what she or her children had ever done to her enemies to make them want to erase their existence by any means necessary. Throughout her life, from childhood to adulthood, she had never had an enemy. Even now, as she ran this race to save her life and the lives of her children, she still did not know the reason someone wanted them dead.
When the child strapped to her back started crying, I realized it was an infant, though not a newborn, as she seemed to be a few months old. No sooner had that child opened its mouth than another cry began to rise from her front. It was only then I noticed she was carrying children on both her front and back, and it appeared they were twins, as the one on her front was also a baby girl. This crying further panicked the mother, causing her to break into loud wails of her own while continuing her desperate run.
"Yes, there she is over there! Run faster so we can catch up to her before she manages to exit this forest, because the woods ahead are even darker, and we might not be able to spot her."
Driven by sheer adrenaline, she accelerated her pace upon hearing the words of the man she assumed was their leader. Her only desire at that moment was to escape this area and plunge into the forest ahead to save their lives. However, before she could reach it, she felt the impact of a wooden club strike the back of her neck. Whether they had thrown it at her or where it came from, she did not know.
She fell, but she quickly braced herself against the ground with her hands to prevent her children from getting hurt. Hearing their footsteps right next to her forced her to scramble back to her feet, despite the blood she felt trickling down her neck and the dizziness clouding her vision. She searched for a place to hide, but the forest seemed completely devoid of any cover. At that moment, she wasn't living for herself; she was living for her children. She knew it was unlikely they would escape the hands of these tyrants, but she hoped her children would survive, even if she had to perish. They were innocent children who knew nothing and hadn't even begun their journey in life, as they were only three months old. She wouldn't want their lives to cut short here, nor would she want her enemies to triumph over her. She knew they were trying to kill her because of the children, to ensure their father would never find even a shred of joy in his life.
She didn't know why heartless people filled the earth, but she deeply pitied her husband, the father of her children. These babies represented all his happiness, joy, and peace of mind, which was why envious people sought to separate him from them, bringing her along into this dark destiny. Their lives were filled with a grim darkness she had never imagined until today, as she stood on a tightrope between life and death. It was only now that many things began flashing through her mind—things she should have noticed long ago, but her pure, pious heart had prevented her from ever suspecting anyone or entertaining negative thoughts. Only now was she certain that she had made a mistake, a monumental mistake, by assuming that every human being possesses a good heart.
Spotting a faint light in the distance, she sprinted toward it with everything she had, praying that Allah would send her rescuers, even if it was only to save her children. She was willing to die as long as they lived. She hoped they would live a good life, if for no other reason than her longing for their prayers. The Messenger of Allah said that the prayers of righteous children for their parents are accepted, and that they are the only wealth a person leaves behind in this world to find waiting for them in the hereafter, alongside continuous charity (Sadaqah Jariyah)—a path she knew she hadn't secured, as she had never even thought about it.
