A Desperate Plea for Love
Samiha’s voice trembled as she pleaded with Yaya Dr. to marry her. She was tired of being kept in secret, treated like an option. "If you truly love me, let’s get married. Let’s build a life together," she begged. But his reply shattered her.
“Don’t talk to me like that again,” he warned. “You are not the kind of woman I plan to marry. I only stay with you for what I get from you. That’s all.” The words struck her like a storm. Still, she persisted, asking him to leave her alone so she could move on, perhaps find someone who would truly care for her.
But he wouldn’t let her go. With harsh threats, he made it clear—no other man would have her, not while he was alive. He promised violence if she dared love another. Her heart broke, but she didn’t speak back. The man she loved most had become the source of her pain.
Tears Behind Her Smile
Despite everything, Samiha remained silent in the face of abuse. Even as he raised his hand and struck her again, she didn’t resist. Her love for him, though battered, hadn’t faded. “Why do you hurt me so easily?” she whispered once, eyes swollen with tears. “You say you love me, but your actions destroy me.”
She remembered how he once treated her with kindness and gentleness. But all of that had changed. Now, their relationship was defined by pain, silence, and confusion. He no longer smiled at her. He no longer showed affection. Yet, her love for him deepened, even though she couldn't explain why.
She gave herself to him without question whenever he asked. The line between love and control blurred, and Samiha was left wondering when everything had changed.
Searching for Herself
Back at home, she prayed. For strength. For change. For forgiveness. She missed the girl she used to be—the one with honor, faith, and purpose. She regretted the path she’d taken, the choices she'd made for the sake of love that now felt like a curse. “Oh Allah,” she cried, “help me leave this life. Help me find peace.”
She prayed for Yaya Dr. too, hoping the man who once loved her would return. The one who cared for her, supported her when she had no one. The one who protected her after her parents died. She still saw glimpses of that man in him—especially when he continued to provide for her basic needs like food and comfort.
One evening, he called and asked her to meet him outside. Despite all he had done, her heart skipped. She greeted him softly. He responded coldly, as usual. Still, she hugged him like before, tears falling onto his back. He didn’t say much. Just handed her a bag full of food and left.
Pain with a Smile
As she watched him drive away, she felt a strange comfort. Even in his cruelty, he had never let her go hungry. Since her parents died, he had been her provider. But she still couldn’t understand him. Why give her everything, yet break her heart daily?
She opened the bag. It was packed with her favorite meals—Jollof rice, grilled chicken, drinks. She laughed through her tears. “You still care,” she whispered, “but why do you treat me like this?”
After her meal, she prayed the evening prayer. Again, she asked Allah to guide her away from this toxic relationship. She prayed for Dr. to find peace—and perhaps, return to the man he once was.
The Night and The Questions
She laid down in bed. His photo was her phone wallpaper. She stared at it and wondered, “What happened to us?” He used to be her happiness. Now he was her sorrow.
She prayed again at midnight, asking Allah for forgiveness. Though she had gone astray, she never abandoned her faith. She held onto her prayers, her connection with her Creator, and her hope that one day she would break free.
Her love for Yaya Dr. remained, but so did her pain. Each day, she battled between letting go and holding on, unsure which would hurt more.
