ABOUT THIS BOOK

Description

saying, “Habu, good evening….”
She couldn’t finish her words because she didn’t notice Niimatu behind him.
“Where is Niimatu?”
Yaya Habu wiped the sweat from his forehead and said, “Umma, please sit down first.”
Umma sat down, her attention fixed on him, and said, “Did she stop to buy the ice cream she usually buys?”
Yaya Habu shook his head. He didn’t want to tell Umma how he felt; his heart was heavy. He lied to her. He cleared his throat, adjusted his sitting position, then told her everything.
Umma kept saying salati repeatedly. Her entire being was shaken. She stood up, adjusting her wrapper, and said, “Get up, let’s go, Habu.”
Yaya Habu cried out softly as he looked at her, seeing that night had fallen deeply.
Umma raised her voice and said, “Can’t you hear me talking?”
Yaya Habu replied, “Umma, please be patient. Let’s go tomorrow. By Allah, the man is kind; he will take care of Niimatu.”
Umma glared at him and said, “So you even know he has good character? Don’t you know that rich people can be arrogant?”
Yaya Habu stood up and held her hand. “Umma, don’t worry. Deep in my heart, I feel the man is good to me.”
Eventually, Umma gave in to Habu, but all through the night she kept praying for her daughter’s recovery.
Prince, along with Zuby and Zarah, entered the room with Mum, where Dad and Abba were sitting, watching over Niimatu as she slept.
Mum moved closer to the bed, saying, “Allahu Akbar, she’s so small.”
Abba said, “Her elder brother said she is fifteen years old.”
Zuby, trying to sit closer to Niimatu, said, “She’s very cute, wallahi.”
Zarah added, “Honestly, she is cute.”
Prince was seated on the chair where Dad had been sitting. Since he came in, he had been busy answering phone calls.
Dad said to Abba, “They said she would wake up in four hours, but look, it’s already more than that.”
Abba stood up and said, “Let me call the doctor. I also think the minutes have passed.” He walked toward the door.
Niimatu, who was lying down, slowly opened her eyes and watched them. Seeing that she didn’t recognize them, she tried to get up, but the pain in her body hurt her badly, and she let out a small cry.
Abba quickly turned around. Mum hurriedly said, “Lie down, lie down. Don’t stress yourself with pain.”
Niimatu just kept looking at them. Abba moved closer and asked, “Niimatu, how are you feeling?”
Hearing her name, she stared at him before weakly saying, “I’m fine.”
Dad said, “Sorry, okay, my child.”
Mum looked at Zarah and said, “Prepare some tea for her to drink.”
Dad turned to where Prince was, still busy on the phone, and said, “Hey, if the phone call brought you, you can leave—we forgive you.”
Prince slightly turned to look at Abba, then stood up and went out.
Abba clicked his tongue; he knew his son was not usually like this. He was compassionate, but now he had completely changed.
