ABOUT THIS BOOK

Description

Just as she reached a massive rock, a wave of severe dizziness swept over her, and tim! she collapsed face-first right on top of the boulder, letting out a terrifying, agonizing scream. With extreme difficulty, she forced herself up, dragging her body as she realized she could barely walk. Desperate and terrified, she quickly crawled behind a nearby tree, squeezing herself against the trunk to hide. She yanked off her headscarf and stuffed it deep into her mouth to muffle her cries against the excruciating labor pains that were now ripping through her lower abdomen. It was clear that her contractions were accelerating rapidly. She shoved the fabric even deeper into her mouth when she caught sight of them entering the forest. From her hiding spot, she could clearly see them frantically searching for her.
They began scanning the area, looking in every direction, but they couldn’t detect even a single trace or movement.
One of them turned to their leader and said, "Oga, I don't think she's in this forest at all. There’s nowhere we hasn't checked, but there is absolutely no sign of her. Honestly, I'm starting to get tired. Let’s just turn back quickly."
Another one immediately chimed in, "By Allah, I'm already getting scared. This forest is incredibly dangerous. We had better leave this place before—" He abruptly cut himself short because of the fierce, menacing glare the leader shot at them.
Calmly, another man in the group asked, "How can you even think of us leaving? If we go back, what are we going to tell... Princess Zaliha...?"
The cowardly one quickly replied, "Ah! Let’s just tell her that we’ve already executed the mission."
The other one agreed, saying, "Yes, that’s a good idea. Let’s tell her we killed her and disposed of her corpse."
The leader whipped his head around, glaring at him, and snapped, "Are you out of your mind? Where exactly are you going to say you killed her? Oga, don't play around with this; it's a very good strategy."
The leader fell silent, carefully analyzing the suggestion, before finally saying, "Hold on, wait for me here."
The Close Call
He turned around and began walking. He came to a halt right by the tree where she was hiding, having sensed a faint movement in that direction.
She curled her body even tighter into a ball, pressing the cloth into her mouth with all her might. She was enduring pure agony as the labor pains intensified fiercely, but she had no choice; she had to save her life, if only for the sake of the unborn child in her womb.
The leader stood perfectly still, straining his ears to listen closely. He thought he caught the faint sound of breathing. She instantly held her breath, desperate to keep him from hearing anything, realizing he was listening intently and trying to confirm if someone was there. He advanced until he was standing right at the edge of the tree. The slightest movement from her now would completely give away her presence. She made a heroic effort, summoning every ounce of strength to hold her breath. He stood there for nearly 10 minutes, but everything remained dead silent, with no sign of life whatsoever. Eventually, he grew tired of standing there and turned around to leave the spot. Reaching his guys, he simply told them to move out. They turned around and began walking away, leaving the forest behind.
The Onset of Labor
Completely exhausted and broken, she let her hands fall to the ground and slumped into a seated position, bursting into a deeply sorrowful, helpless weep. As she cried bitterly, she began to recite, "Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji'un (To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return). What kind of life is this?"
Suddenly, she grabbed her stomach as her lower abdomen gripped with a violent contraction. She began twisting and writhing on the ground in intense pain. Every single prayer that flashed through her mind rushed out of her mouth as she began to recite frantically. Then, she let out another sharp, piercing scream as she felt—
