Zuhura and Maryam Going to Islamiyya
She hurriedly finished getting ready and left for Islamiyya school because she did not like being late. She knew very well that the teacher never tolerated lateness.
Just then a voice from outside said,
“Zuhura, hurry up and come out so you can go. Maryam is waiting for you.”
She replied,
“Okay Inna, I’m coming.”
Maryam then said,
“Inna, there is still time.”
But Inna answered,
“You should go early, especially since Zuhura cannot tolerate being beaten.”
Maryam laughed and said,
“That’s true, Zuhura really doesn’t like being beaten.”
Zuhura came out wearing her hijab and said,
“Maryam, let’s go. When I come back, I’ll eat.”
Inna replied, “Okay.”
They left the house. On the way, Zuhura said,
“Maryam, walk faster before Malam Isah beats us. You know he never forgives lateness.”
Maryam replied,
“Sometimes he is a little lenient with you.”
Zuhura widened her eyes and said,
“When has he ever been lenient with me? Stop saying that and just hurry up.”
Maryam laughed and said jokingly,
“Let’s go, leader of the cowards.”
Zuhura replied,
“Yes, I heard you. Fear can save someone’s life.”
Soon they reached the school. Luckily the beating session had not started yet. They entered the classroom, sat down, and began their lesson.
Ammar’s Morning in the United States
In the United States, Ammar was lying on his large luxurious bed with his eyes closed, clearly still asleep.
The cool air from the air conditioner filled the room along with a pleasant fragrance spreading throughout the bedroom. Everything in the room was decorated in purple and white, and the place looked incredibly luxurious.
Suddenly his phone rang loudly. Another call interrupted it before he could respond. Still half asleep, he searched for his phone and finally picked it up, placing it on his ear without speaking.
A voice said,
“I’m waiting for you.”
From the voice, he realized it was his friend Ahmad.
With difficulty he replied, “Okay.”
He removed the blanket and placed his very fair feet on the floor. His appearance was striking. His skin was extremely fair, almost like that of an Arab. He had attractive eyes, a long nose, small pink lips, and shiny black hair.
He went into the bathroom and showered for almost thirty minutes. After bathing, he came out with a towel tied around his waist, drying his hair in front of the mirror.
He applied fragrant lotion slowly over his body, styled his hair carefully, and then went to his wardrobe. He selected a light blue T-shirt and dark blue trousers.
After dressing neatly, he wore his watch, took his car keys and phone, and walked into the living room.
The living room was beautifully furnished with every luxury imaginable.
Ahmad looked at him and said jokingly,
“You really have no respect. I’ve been waiting for you for an hour and you come here and sit down.”
Ammar ignored him and kept looking at his phone.
Ahmad then said,
“Please Ammar, get up. Let’s go.”
Ammar replied calmly,
“Are you tired already?”
Ahmad said,
“Come on, let’s go. I want to reach school early so we can finish preparing for graduation. I’m eager to return to Nigeria.”
Ammar nodded and said, “Okay, let’s go.”
They left the house, entered Ammar’s car, and drove to school.
Zuhura’s Home and Ammar’s Family Call
Back at Zuhura’s home, after returning from Islamiyya she entered the house and saw Inna sitting on a mat with the youngest child Halifa on her lap while Amira played beside her.
Zuhura removed her hijab and went straight to the kitchen because she was hungry. She found no food there and asked,
“Inna, where is my food?”
Inna replied,
“It’s covered over there.”
She brought it outside, sat on the mat, and began eating. It was white rice with oil.
While eating she chatted with Inna, but suddenly she bit into a small stone in the rice. She quickly spat it out and complained,
“Inna, even though we sorted this rice, there are still stones inside.”
Inna replied,
“Yes, we tried our best.”
Zuhura said,
“Please don’t buy this rice again. When I bite those stones it makes me very annoyed.”
Inna laughed and said,
“When your father comes back, tell him not to buy that type again.”
Zuhura then said,
“They told us to bring our monthly Islamiyya fee, but I haven’t paid for three months.”
Inna replied,
“Wait until your father returns and ask him to give you money for at least one month.”
Zuhura said shyly,
“I feel embarrassed when they come to collect the fee and I don’t have it.”
Inna replied,
“Finish eating and get ready for Maghrib prayer.”
Meanwhile, while driving, Ahmad asked Ammar about a girl named Patricia who had confessed her love for him.
Ammar replied that he had no time for relationships at the moment and even if he did, he would not date a white girl because it was simply not his preference.
They soon arrived at their university where many students looked at them, especially Ammar because of his handsome appearance.
After attending their classes and finishing their graduation preparations, they later returned home.
