FAREWELL IN NOTTINGHAM
Basma watched tearfully as her charming lover, Aliyu Hydar, tied his Zara designer shoelaces. "Baby, can't I follow you?" she pleaded, her heart aching. But Hydar, calm and composed, broke the news: "Baaba called. I must return to Nigeria today."
Despite Basma's desperate offer to join him, Hydar firmly refused. "For how many times will I tell you not to bring up the idea of coming to my family home?"
Crestfallen, Basma begged him to at least keep in touch. He promised and left her at the Nottingham Hall entrance, stepping into a luxurious car en route to the airport.
At the airport, Basma gave him one last emotional plea. "Please, take care of our love..."
Hydar replied, "Nothing can separate us. You're the love of my life." And with that, he boarded the private jet marked H.R.H SB (His Royal Highness Shehu Borno), heading back to Nigeria.
WHO IS YAREEMA ALIYU HYDAR?
Prince Aliyu Hydar Shehu Bulama Goni, 30 years old, was the son of Shehu Bulama, the revered monarch of Borno State. With two stepmothers and multiple siblings, palace life was a mix of royalty, tradition, and tension.
Hydar’s mother, Hajia Hajjagana, lived separately in Maiduguri, a result of past disputes in the palace. Despite being a prince, Hydar maintained humility and was deeply respectful of his heritage.
Upon arriving at the palace, he skipped the formalities and headed to his suite, annoyed by his half-brother Babagana's drunken mess. After instructing the palace guards to clean up, he performed ablution, prayed, and visited his father.
PALACE TENSIONS
Hydar respectfully greeted his father, who expressed his appreciation. Then he visited his stepmothers, both of whom responded coldly, as expected. His mother, however, warmly welcomed him via phone call.
Later that night, despite exhaustion, Hydar remembered to call Basma. She excitedly picked up, but he ended the call quickly. "It's late. We'll talk later," he said, already weary of her clinginess.
MORNING ROUTINE
By dawn, Hydar was up, prayed, and once again saw Babagana passed out from another wild night. He shook him gently, "Wake up, it's time for prayer," but Babagana mumbled incoherently about women.
Disgusted, Hydar left for the palace mosque. After prayers, he returned to speak with his father. Shehu Bulama assured him they would discuss the reason for his sudden return later.
Back in his suite, Hydar tried to nap but was awakened by another call from Basma. Annoyed, he picked up:
"Boo boo, I miss you so much..."
"Basma, you interrupted my rest," he said coldly.
But she kept talking. "I think about you all the time, morning, night, always you..."
BETWEEN TWO WORLDS
Despite Basma's deep affection, Hydar was clearly emotionally distant. Her persistence bordered on obsession. In Nigeria, he was a prince, heir to a respected monarchy; in the UK, he lived as a student, far from royal obligations.
Torn between love and duty, Hydar had choices to make. Was Basma the love of his life? Or was she merely a phase before he embraced the path his royal blood demanded?
