ABOUT THIS BOOK
Description
She was rushing and running so fast that the water from the clay pot balanced on her head was splashing down the center of her head, soaking her entire body. I was struck with amazement, considering the era we live in. Is it really true that there are still villages where people use clay pots to fetch water? God is all-powerful; the one who stays in one place truly doesn't know the world. Hmmm, I took a deep breath and continued to put pen to paper so I could pour out the story of this young girl whose origins I am currently investigating—who exactly is she?
I looked her over completely, casting my eyes upon the clothes she was wearing. It was a mismatched outfit: a blouse made from one type of Ankara print, a headscarf from another, and a wrapper from yet another.
"The moment that girl steps back into this house today, I swear by the Qur'an I will deal with her severely! I will tear her flesh to pieces..." Even from behind the house, which was fenced with thatched stalks, you could hear Guggo Atine screaming and ranting, her voice echoing into the courtyard where the scorching sun was beating down.
"Look, Atine, I already told you that this girl goes nowhere else but roaming the streets. Just the day before yesterday, we punished her by mixing chili pepper into her washing water. But you see, she still hasn't learned her lesson today. Of course, once they get used to it, even if you kill them, they will never stop chasing after men..."
