ABOUT THIS BOOK

Description

A Desperate Flight into the Forest
She ran blindly, struggling through the dense forest where nothing could be heard except the cries of birds. Haki stopped, panting heavily from extreme exhaustion. Just as she bent over to catch her breath, she suddenly felt herself being seized—slapped hard and yanked violently.
She staggered backward as hot, painful tears streamed down her cheeks. Then she began to cry out, “Shema’u, please don’t kill me. Have mercy on me. Remember, I’m your only sister. Please don’t separate me from my family…” She ended her plea in uncontrollable sobs.
The one she called Shema’u burst into laughter, wild and almost deranged, shaking her head as she said, “Aysha, you must die. And your family—don’t worry, they’re in good hands. I promise nothing will happen to them; I’ll take better care of them than you ever could. You made a mistake, Aysha, the moment you agreed to marry the man of my dreams. Did you ever ask yourself why I never married all this while? Of course you didn’t—you were too busy celebrating that your dream came true. You married the man you loved and even gave him children, knowing very well that I met him first, that I knew him before you. I should be the one in your place. I deserve to be with AT, not you, Aysha…” She finished, tears running down her face as she smiled and shook her head like a madwoman.
Sisters Turned Enemies
Aysha could only keep shaking her head as tears poured down her face. What was happening was something she had never imagined could be real—not even in a movie. Yet here it was: a sister hunting the life of her own sister because of a man.
In disbelief, she wiped her tears and pleaded again, “Shema’u, please don’t kill me. You can have AT. I’ll leave him for you. Just please don’t hurt me or my children…” Crying bitterly, she clasped her hands together in supplication. But instead of softening, Shema’u only laughed louder.
As Shema’u drifted deeper into her laughter, Aysha slowly began to step backward. Blood continued to flow down her legs because of the pregnancy she carried.
Before she could steady herself, Shema’u lunged again, grabbing her and delivering two heavy slaps before gripping her by the neck. With tears of hardened rage streaming down her face, she shouted, “You’re so delusional, Aysha, to think I’d let you live. You stole everything that ever belonged to me—my love, my place. You’ve always been stealing from me. Everyone loved you. Even in school, friends preferred you. When Abbah was alive, he loved you more. Momma loved you more. You were always the good one, and I was the troublesome, unwanted one. Even when Abbah brought AT, it was you he chose for marriage, even though I was older. I should have been the first to marry, not you. Why, Aysha? Why did you steal everything from me?”
Aysha kept shaking her head, tears flowing endlessly. The pain in her stomach felt unbearable, as if she were dying. Her face turned red from agony as she pleaded weakly, “Shema’u, have mercy, please. Have pity on me, at least for the sake of the child inside me. Don’t punish the innocent…”
Blood, Betrayal, and a Dark Pact
Shema’u grabbed a stone beside her and pressed it against Aysha’s forehead. Crying bitterly, she looked at her sister and said, “Aysha, I love you—I really do—but I have no choice but to kill you. Only then can I regain everything I lost because of you.” She ended her words by smashing the stone down on her.
Aysha screamed as Shema’u continued striking her mercilessly, blood pouring down Aysha’s forehead. Without a trace of faith or restraint, Shema’u kept pounding the stone with all her strength.
Hisham, who had been standing nearby, watched everything with amusement. He burst into laughter and clapped his hands, saying, “What an interesting show. You really are something, Shemah. I admire you—you’ve shown me you can do anything to possess that damn doctor. This only proves you feel nothing for me.” He finished as he stepped closer.
Shema’u, now terrified, stared at Aysha’s lifeless body. Seeing that she was no longer moving or breathing, she released her abruptly, trembling like a startled insect. With wide, frightened eyes, she looked at Hisham and cried, “Oh no, no, no—I killed her. I killed my sister, Hisham…” She looked around nervously, like someone afraid of being caught.
Seeing she was losing control, Hisham quickly grabbed her shoulders and said, “Hey! Pull yourself together. Don’t be stupid. So you weren’t prepared for what you started? What’s done is done. You might as well finish what you’ve begun.” He ended with a cruel laugh.
Shema’u shook herself free, wagging her index finger at him as she warned, “Don’t think you can walk away from this mess, Hisham. We’re in this together. If you ever think of betraying me, I have my ways of getting rid of you.”
Hisham laughed again, impressed by her ruthlessness, then pulled her into an embrace despite her trembling body. Leaning close to her ear, he whispered, “If you help me get what I’ve been hunting for from AT, then you’ve done everything for me. I assure you—your secret is safe with Dr. Hisham.” He ended with a sinister laugh.
Shema’u nodded repeatedly, her voice shaking as she said, “You can count on me. I swear I’ll do anything to help you take over Sajmal Clinic.”
Hisham smiled and asked, “Deal?”
She nodded quickly. “Yeah, deal.”
Then, confused and panicked, she asked, “Doctor, help me—what do we do with her?”
“So you started something without a plan?” he replied mockingly. “How do you work without calculation, Shema’u?”
She clicked her tongue, looking at Aysha’s lifeless body on the ground, blood still flowing from her head and legs, and said, “Should we dig a hole and dump her inside?”
Hisham laughed again and replied, “You’re really poor at mathematics. Anyway, leave this to me—I’ll handle it. For now, help me drag her into your car.”
Without argument, Shema’u did exactly as he instructed.
