ABOUT THIS BOOK

Description

Mutallab’s Return and Domestic Tensions

A Triumphant Return At exactly 5:00 PM, Mutallab’s flight landed in Nigeria after a rushed trip to Niger Republic. A last-minute presidential request had summoned him to discuss a major contract for building shopping complexes in Niamey. The President, impressed by Mutallab’s projects elsewhere, commended the quality of his designs and awarded him the deal. It was a moment of honor for Mutallab—grateful to God for the breakthrough, despite knowing it would spark envy among locals who resented his growing influence.

Family Duties Before Departure Before heading to the airport, Mutallab stopped by to inform Dada of the contract. She gave heartfelt prayers and emphasized the importance of trust, justice, and fairness—especially in his marriage to her granddaughter Aïcha. After this, he joined his waiting family and boarded the plane with Aïcha, who was clearly nervous on her first flight. Clutching his hand tightly, she trembled as the plane lifted off. Mutallab reassured her with humor and warmth.

Arrival and Hidden Jealousy Once they arrived
Fannah prepared their quarters while Aïcha followed. Meenal, still bitter about Mutallab’s second marriage, pretended to be asleep. Though excited at the thought of seeing him again, she was too hurt to welcome him. As he passed her section, she came out dressed to impress but was disappointed by his lack of attention. He continued upstairs, still angry over her past actions.

A Cold Encounter Meenal confronted him, accusing him of betrayal for marrying someone else. He, already irritated, coldly told her to leave. When she refused, he shouted, forcing her out. Mutallab then called Afrah, instructing her to clean his room. Afrah, used to his requests, agreed.

Aïcha Steps Up Afrah prepared to clean the room, but Aïcha volunteered, insisting it wasn’t appropriate for Afrah to handle it. She proceeded to Mutallab’s suite, where he welcomed her in surprise. With care and diligence, she cleaned the room, bathroom, and arranged his things perfectly. When he emerged from his shower, touched by her devotion, he thanked her with a kiss on her hand.

A Jealous Outburst As they stood close

Meenal stormed in carrying food she had ordered for him. Shocked to see them embracing, she dropped everything in rage. Screaming accusations, she confronted Aïcha, demanding to know who she was and what she was doing there.

Mutallab defended Aïcha firmly. “She’s my wife and has every right to be here,” he said.

Meenal, stunned, turned her fury toward Mutallab. “So this is how you repay me? Embracing another woman on my day to cook for you?”

“She’s my wife,” he repeated. “Just as you are. I did nothing wrong.”

Breaking Point Humiliated
Meenal fled the room in tears. Mutallab warned her to never speak disrespectfully to him again in front of Aïcha. He made it clear: if she couldn’t act with dignity, there would be consequences.

“You and your new wife betrayed me,” she cried.

Mutallab, now firm, replied, “There was no betrayal. I’ve done everything within my rights. You failed to welcome me home, failed to care for my space. She did what you should have.”

As he left the room, Meenal collapsed into bitter sobs, realizing she had lost her standing in his life, now shared with the quiet strength of Aïcha.
