SHOCKING INCIDENT
The nation was thrown into turmoil following the bizarre and daring kidnapping of Hon. Kashim Baba, a high-ranking member of the Nigerian National Assembly. What made the incident most alarming was that the kidnappers struck right outside his home, even extending their audacity to the mosque attached to his residence, where Kashim was last seen observing prayer.
Worshippers were left in disbelief. "How could such a thing happen at the mosque and his home simultaneously?" echoed across media houses. The story spread like wildfire across television, radio, and newspapers, fueling fear and speculation.
SCENE OF GRIEF
Back at the residence, Hajiya Ummah Diamond, Kashim's wife, lay unconscious with grief, while two young men showered her with water, urging her to wake. One sobbing voice, Ja'abit, her son, kept repeating, "In sha Allah, our daddy will come back."
The news spread beyond the home, hitting Abuja District and the entire nation, broadcasted on all major outlets.
NIGERIAN ARMY HQ, ABUJA
The military base buzzed with activity. Everyone was tense. Amid the preparations, a sleek black Lexus pulled in. Heavily armed guards surrounded it. In less than five seconds, a striking officer stepped out in full military regalia.
Lieutenant General Maleek Toufiq had arrived.
With commanding presence and discipline, he walked directly into the base, greeted with salutes from all directions. No one dared meet his eyes—his authority was absolute. Renowned as a fearless, incorruptible officer, Maleek was the nation's pride.
THE CONSPIRATORS
Elsewhere in a grand political hall, influential figures gathered in whispers. Among them were Alhaji Atiku, Isa Tambuwal, Ibrahim Nera, and Isa Hasarara.
"How do we eliminate him?" one asked. "We tried before and nearly got exposed."
"Then let’s orchestrate an accident. That way, suspicion is ruled out," another replied.
They agreed. The man they spoke of was none other than Maleek Toufiq. His intelligence and cunning made him their biggest threat.
