A Clash of Dreams and Reality A Familiar Strike
The clang of swords echoed in his ears. Blood painted every corner. A fierce warrior charged at him with a razor-sharp blade—a strike that synchronized with the motion of a fencing opponent lunging forward in the training hall at MK Fencing Academy. Arman, deep in his trance, dodged and countered. With a swift strike, he knocked his opponent to the ground.
Applause erupted. Arman had won. But his breath came heavy, not just from the duel but from the recurring vision—a haunting battle he dreamed of every week. He had no ties to such a war, not in his lifetime. Yet it plagued him like a memory.
Adjusting the glasses he never removed—his only aid for the congenital vision disorder he lived with—Arman silently accepted his award.
The Wait for Adam
Changing into casual wear—black hoodie, red bomber jacket, jeans, and black sneakers—Arman packed his trophy and checked his phone. Still no call from Adam. With an annoyed hiss, he redialed.
Behind a Locked Door
At House No. 34, Street 12, Al Mankhool, Dubai, Adam's mother pounded his locked door.
"Adam! Open this door!"
Inside, Adam crouched under a desk, blanketed and shaking. His room, filled with camera gear and photos, showed he was a photographer. His fear suggested something deeper. Outside, his mother gave up.
"May God save us from hardship," she sighed, returning to the living room.
Just then, Adam's phone rang. Arman. She picked up and told him Adam hadn’t come out since the night before. Arman knew the likely cause: horror movies. Adam was notoriously scared of them.
Guitar and Good Vibes
At Repton School, Ivana Sagar, a bright Arab musician, was teaching guitar when Arman called. Recognizing the contact as "My Friend 💖," she smiled.
"Where are you?" she asked before he could speak.
After greetings, he told her about Adam. She laughed, knowing his weakness.
"Pick me up," she said.
The Gathering
Together, they found Adam still pale from fear. His horror film marathon had done its damage. Ivana tried to comfort him; Arman couldn’t help laughing.
"Stop it!" Ivana scolded Arman. "Let’s go grab tea."
At Cavo Espresso Bar, Adam still looked haunted. Ivana offered him tea. He accepted, murmuring about the terrifying ghost he had seen.
On her way back with their drinks,
