Abuturrab was reclined on his bed, phone in hand, an earpiece nestled in his ear. He was on a video call with a young man who was close by, seated in the parlor, munching on an apple. Abuturrab shook his head, glanced at him, and said, "Look... I'd rather not discuss that... If Mummy is nearby, please don't acknowledge us." The young man, still enjoying his apple, replied, "It's quite late; she's asleep..." Abuturrab then asked, "Since you're not heading out, when will you come to Kano?" El-Basheer responded, "Next week, God willing, with your Highness. I might be the last one, but you'll be there too, right?" "God willing, I'll be there by Friday," confirmed Abuturrab. El-Basheer gave a nonchalant shrug and said, "Okay then." Abuturrab interjected, "I need to take another call, see you tomorrow morning." El-Basheer, with a teasing smile, asked, "Is it about the lady you refuse to talk about?" Abuturrab ended the call, picked up another ringing phone, and greeted the caller, "How are you, dear?"
 
In his Abuja parlor, Abuturrab had just arrived home due to a diverted flight from Lagos caused by bad weather. He was enjoying grapes and watching an action movie when the door swung open. He expected no one but Ahmad, who had mentioned he was in Abuja. A woman of medium height, neither slim nor athletic, entered and locked the door behind her. Removing her niqab, she greeted him warmly. He admired her from head to toe; her presence had already filled the room. She approached, concern in her voice, and asked, "Why didn't you answer my calls, Captain?" He explained, "We've just landed; my phone was charging. How are you?" "I'm fine, are you tired?" she inquired gently. "All praise be to Allah, where did you come from?" he asked. "From home... I came because you said you were in Abuja," she replied. He cautioned her, "Ahmad might arrive soon; I don't want him to find you here, given his suspicions." She understood and expressed her desire to talk, mentioning she had been trying to reach him for weeks. He apologized for forgetting their conversation amidst his busy schedule. She then voiced her concerns about their relationship, to which he reassured her of his love and asked for patience until she completed her studies. After a heartfelt exchange, he gave her some money for her journey home, and they parted ways with a promise to talk again soon.
