They were seven in number, all dressed entirely in black from head to toe, with only their eyes visible. Each of them had a sword hanging on his back, and they also carried several sharp, pointed metal stars on their bodies.
At once, the seven of them landed on the rooftop of the royal palace and surveyed the entire compound. There were at least about three hundred guards standing alert at every corner of the palace, ensuring security. The seven warriors looked at one another, then turned to their leader, who had the symbol of a red bird drawn on his turban. Without saying a word, the leader simply gestured with his hand, indicating where each of them should go.
Immediately, they leapt down from the top of the building as if they had wings, even though the height from the roof to the ground was about twenty-five cubits. Each of them landed safely without making a sound. Then they began hurling those metal stars at the palace guards, who dropped dead instantly—as if struck by poison—unable even to make a proper movement.
What would astonish you most was the speed of these seven warriors. Whenever they noticed a guard about to fall onto something that might make a noise and expose their presence, they would quickly catch him and gently lay him down. In this way, the seven warriors continued eliminating the palace guards until they had wiped out all three hundred of them.
Their leader then headed straight toward Princess Sazira’s chamber.
The entrance to the chamber was locked, with two guards standing outside. As soon as they saw him approaching, they rushed forward at the same time. One drew his sword to block him, while the other reached for a horn hanging above, intending to blow it. But the leader of the assassins swiftly pulled out two metal stars and, with incredible speed, hurled them at the guards. The stars struck their foreheads, and both guards collapsed dead.
The main door leading into Princess Sazira’s chamber was securely locked from the inside with bolts and keys. The leader bent down and peered inside through a small opening at the base of the door. He saw many of her maids lying in a large hall, fast asleep. The door leading into the princess’s actual bedroom was just ahead.
Seeing this, he transformed into light and passed through the door. As he appeared inside the hall, he moved straight toward the princess’s bedroom door. The sound of his footsteps began to wake the maids, but any who opened their eyes and saw him found themselves unable to stand or speak. This was due to a powder he kept blowing at them from a small container in his mouth, while he covered his nose with his turban. The maids soon fell back into a deep, heavy sleep.
When he reached the door to the princess’s room, he stopped abruptly. Through the window, he saw Princess Sazira sitting on her bed, staring directly at him. There was no sign of fear or panic in her.
At that moment, she was dressed in a long white nightgown that revealed the beauty of her figure. Her hair was neatly combed, flowing down to her waist. She was a woman with strikingly white eyes, a long nose, and a small mouth. Her body was well-shaped, with a moderate build. Her skin was radiant, smooth, and flawless—as if it had never been touched—so delicate it seemed that even a slight touch might draw blood.
At once, the leader of the assassins was stunned by the extraordinary beauty of Princess Sazira, for he had never seen her before—he had only heard stories about her.
