Wedding Night Tears & Morning Realities
The Bridal Room
Nisha was escorted quietly into one of the bridal bedrooms downstairs, where all her things were neatly arranged. She followed silently behind, her head lowered, feeling uncertain and overwhelmed. Salma stayed close.
Ammi and Goggo Rabi comforted her before leaving. The moment they left, Nisha uncovered her face and collapsed into Salma’s lap, crying softly. Salma lifted her gently.
"Please don't waste your tears," she said. "This is your special night—a night you'll never forget."
"But I can't say I'm happy. My heart feels like it's going to burst," Nisha confessed, trembling.
Salma soothed her. "You have to be strong, accept your role, and love what your husband loves."
They stayed together for a while before a knock came from the parlour. Salma helped Nisha cover her face and went to check.
The Groomsmen Visit
At the parlour, Kamal and Muhaiseen had arrived, dressed elegantly, carrying gift bags. Kamal apologized for not calling and explained that the groom was waiting outside.
Salma hesitated, concerned about leaving Nisha alone. Kamal reassured her.
"He's close by. Don't keep him waiting," he said.
Salma rushed back, informed Nisha, and prepared to leave.
"Who's here?" Nisha asked timidly.
"Kamal brought gifts. Your groom is nearby. I need to go now," Salma replied, teasingly.
Nisha panicked and grabbed Salma’s hand. "Please don’t leave me. I’m scared."
Salma calmed her down. "It'll be fine. He'll be here any moment. Don't stress."
With that, she left Nisha alone.
Heelah's Turmoil
Meanwhile, upstairs, Heelah was a mess—pale, exhausted, and consumed by jealousy. She couldn’t believe Nisha had taken her place. She cried loudly, disturbing even little Aheel sleeping nearby.
Her mother entered and found her in distress.
"Why are you crying like this, Heelah?" she asked, worried.
"I can’t bear it! That girl is with my husband. I'm taking action myself if you won’t!"
Her mother urged calm. "Let me handle it. She has stepped into your domain. Justice must be served, but not by you. Rest."
"I’m moving back to my room tomorrow," Heelah announced.
Her mother sighed. "Fine. Tomorrow, then."
Ajmal Returns
Around 11 PM, Ajmal returned, dressed in an elegant outfit. His expression was unreadable as he walked into the parlour, glanced at Nisha’s door, then headed straight to his room. He undressed, showered, and changed into soft pajamas. Exhausted from the party, he skipped coffee and collapsed into bed.
Nisha's Lonely Night
Back in her room, Nisha woke from a restless sleep. Her head ached with worry. She washed her face, looked around the decorated room, and waited. But Ajmal never came.
By midnight, hungry and anxious, she went to the parlour and found the gift bags on the table. She opened one and drank half a yogurt bottle, trying to calm her nerves.
With nowhere to go, she curled up on the sofa, trembling in fear, until sleep overtook her.
Dawn Regrets
Before dawn, Ajmal woke to the call of prayer. He stretched, performed ablution, and descended the stairs.
There, he found Nisha asleep on the sofa, in her bridal clothes, her scarf displaced. Seeing her like that pierced his heart. He felt a sharp pang of guilt—he hadn’t done right by her.
He stood silently, taking in the sight of his bride, alone and abandoned on their wedding night.
