ABOUT THIS BOOK
Description
Baffa intervened on their behalf, so she left them alone and went to Baffa’s room, taking a flask of water with her because he usually drank water at night.
She left them in her sitting room, deeply engaged in a new conversation. Even Baffa had returned and sat down with them.
When Ammah came back again, she found them still seated there, chatting away.
“What is wrong with all of you today? Baffa, let us go so you can sleep. Leave these children alone.”
Baffa agreed, and Saddam looked at Abdulrahim. They exchanged glances, trying to suppress their laughter.
“Hypocrites!”
Ammah said, glaring at them.
They burst into laughter while Baffa smiled.
“Ammah, Baffa is not even sleepy.”
“Did he tell you that?”
“Well, Baffa is right here. Let us ask him. Baffa, are you feeling sleepy?”
Saddam turned and asked him.
“Well, even if I am not sleepy, Saddam, since Jamila says I am, then that must be the truth.”
“Baffa, I have noticed that you are completely under her control,” Abdulrahim said, laughing.
“No, that is not quite right. She has him completely wrapped around her finger,” Saddam corrected him.
Ammah threw a sofa cushion at them and ordered them to get out of her room, while they continued laughing.
“But Ammah, we are only telling the truth. Baffa never argues with anything you say.”
“And are you jealous of that?”
“No, we just want Baffa to show some authority once in a while.”
Baffa kept laughing, and even Ammah could not stop herself from laughing.
Saddam and Abdulrahim were mischievous young men who always teased the couple.
Baffa told them to pray that they would both find women like Ammah, because then they too would gladly become husbands who were completely devoted to their wives.
“She has a wonderful character. Jamila is a perfect example of a good woman.”
“Awww!”
They chorused when they saw Ammah smiling at Baffa’s praise.
“Baffa certainly knows how to use sweet words,” Saddam said, laughing uncontrollably.
“Ammah, was it with words like these that Baffa stole your heart?”
She smiled and shot him a sharp look.
Baffa then told them that their marriage had been arranged, and from the very first time they met, they accepted and felt comfortable with each other.
