ABOUT THIS BOOK
Description
She was running very fast as if her life depended on it, yet she felt as though the creature behind her was almost catching up with her. That made her put even more effort into running. She had gone far through the hostel and was almost at the school gate when she suddenly felt herself being lifted into the air. She began to struggle helplessly in the wind, screaming, but no one could really hear her. She was being tossed violently through the air as though in a whirlwind. She struggled until she became weak, and then she was brought back down to the ground in a state between life and death, because even her breathing had become faint.
Then a very horrible creature appeared before her, pitch black in color. As it faced her, the moonlight revealed its face. Blood was flowing from its mouth and eyes.
She let out another small scream and tried to move backward, because by then she no longer had the strength to run again. She kept shifting backward, crying and gasping.
“Please, have mercy on me, do not kill me. Kafsha, please forgive me. I repent, please.”
The jinn laughed, then began to cry in a terrifying way that was painful to listen to. Instead of tears flowing from its eyes, blood poured out. Then it suddenly went silent. In a dreadful voice, frightening enough to terrify every living being on earth, it said:
“You took away my life. You took away my love. You took away my parents. You took away my dreams. You must taste the pain of the most horrible and painful death. And you will all die, every one of you must die. From today, The Sleepless Night has moved away from your world!”
It stretched out its long hand and grabbed her by the throat. With the other hand, it marked a cross on her back, tearing her clothes in the process, and blood splattered out. She gave a scream of agony as her soul left her, and instantly she stopped moving.
It waited until it was sure she was dead before dropping her corpse to the ground. Blood flowed from her mouth, nose, and ears.
The jinn laughed again and said, “The Sleepless Night has begun,” before vanishing from the place.
Malam Ya’u, the school gatekeeper, came out to prepare for the dawn prayer. His attention did not go toward the school gate at all, because the call to prayer had already started from the school mosque. That was where they prayed, including some lecturers who lived on campus and the male students who usually observed prayers on time. None of them looked toward that direction.
At about 6:30, they began coming out of the mosque. He came to open the gate, and his eyes fell upon the corpse.
He shouted loudly in shock, then stepped back, screaming for people to come.
People began to gather there. When Geny arrived and saw the way Zolaya had been killed, she screamed loudly, calling on Jesus, then collapsed. Umra and Salma also fell down.
The place was filled with cries and wailing.
They were taken to the principal, who himself was in fear and amazement.
The police were immediately called. They took away the body and began their investigation.
All of them were thrown into distress, especially Geny, who could do nothing but cry and keep calling her name.
The others were silent, wondering who could have killed her.
The police investigation turned toward them, but the murder was complicated, and up till now they had found nothing at all.
Umra said, “So is it true, that means she is dead? She will never come back again? Yee Jesus,” she said, breaking down in tears again.
“What troubles me the most is the way she was killed. Such lack of faith and mercy. Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un.”
“It is night already, let us go and sleep till morning...”
Ramlah looked at him weakly and fearfully and said, “Honestly, I am really afraid. Tomorrow I am going back home, because truly, it seems to me this school has jinns. They are the ones taking our lives, as you can hear,” she finished, crying.
The boys, with heavy hearts, went to their own section, and the girls also returned to theirs.
After mourning for a while, they lay down to sleep.
In her sleep, Ramla felt the urge to urinate, so she woke up at once.
She went outside to relieve herself, and as she was about to squat, she noticed what looked like a human shadow behind her. In fright, she turned around.
What she saw made her urinate on herself and fall down from the intensity of her fear. The jinn laughed and cried at the same time, with blood flowing from its mouth and eyes.
With all the courage she could gather, Ramla stood up and ran deeper into the school bush, screaming loudly for help.
