ABOUT THIS BOOK
Description
Babban Yaro (Yaro da Kudi)
The story opens at a flashy, energetic birthday party organized by Alina, a bold and extravagant girl. The event is filled with loud music, dancing, and a trendy crowd. One name keeps ringing through the noise—Sugar Boy, a mysterious, wealthy, and stylish young man who commands attention wherever he goes.
The narrator, Asma’u, attends the party with her friend Mimi, feeling unsure about being there. Things take a turn when she sees Alina and Sugar Boy getting unusually close in front of the crowd. Alarmed by the atmosphere and their behavior, Asma’u begins to feel deeply uncomfortable and wants to leave.
A Sudden Turn
As she tries to leave, the power is cut in the venue, throwing the place into darkness. In the confusion, Asma’u gets separated from Mimi. She faces a moment of danger but narrowly escapes using her wit and courage. She flees the party in tears, overwhelmed and shaken.
Outside, Mimi finds her and they leave the scene together. They are both emotionally affected by what happened, especially Asma’u, who regrets ever attending the party. While waiting for a ride home, they are approached by a young man offering them a lift. His rude behavior causes another confrontation. Eventually, they are picked up and taken away in a luxury car by someone who appears to be associated with Sugar Boy.
Backlash and Realization
Inside the car, Mimi expresses guilt and regret for dragging Asma’u to the party. She now understands why Alina didn’t reveal all the plans for the night. Asma’u, feeling betrayed by her classmates and disturbed by what she witnessed, promises herself to be more cautious in the future.
Later, Alina confronts Asma’u, making light of the situation, while Asma’u becomes more frustrated and disgusted by the lack of empathy. This leads to a heated argument between the two girls, hinting at deeper issues of peer pressure, self-worth, and toxic influences.
A Mysterious Stranger
Meanwhile, the wealthy and enigmatic Amjad, who was seen earlier at the party, continues to observe Asma’u with interest. His actions are unpredictable, and it's clear he’s not just any regular guest—he seems to have power and influence.
The chapter ends with rising tension between Asma’u, Mimi, and those surrounding Sugar Boy and Amjad, as Asma’u finds herself entangled in a world of wealth, recklessness, and secrets far beyond what she imagined.
