ABOUT THIS BOOK
Description
The House
The house had only two rooms in the compound, not too spacious but neat and recently arranged. The sitting room was filled with expensive chairs that didn’t quite match the modest size of the home. The bedroom had fine furniture too, though the bed barely fit, so the wardrobe was placed in the other room.
A Woman at the Mirror
Inside, a woman sat before the mirror adjusting her headwrap. She was striking—light-skinned but not excessively so, with a tall nose, thin brows, and maroon lipstick. Her green earrings and necklace sparkled with stones. She wore a green atamfa with orange and black patterns that fit her perfectly. When she stood, her medium height and slim build became apparent.
She picked up her phone, dialed a contact named My Dear, and soon heard his voice greet her:
> “My Azizaty.”
They exchanged soft words. He explained his mother had delayed him but promised to arrive soon. After the call, she smiled at her reflection, then left the room.
The Arrival
About ten minutes later, she arranged a tray with cups, jug, and food warmers in the sitting room. A knock came. She rushed to open the door and heard his voice outside, still on the phone. She quickly hid behind the door.
When he stepped in, she covered his eyes playfully.
> “Azizaty!” he said, smiling at her perfume.
“Dear, welcome back.”
He teased her beauty before they went inside hand in hand. She asked if he’d eat or bathe first; he left the choice to her, and she picked bath. She even helped him undress before he showered. Soon, he emerged in a white T-shirt and blue jeans, looking handsome.
Ahmad
Ahmad was tall, fair-skinned, and well-built—no excess weight, just firm muscle. In beauty, neither he nor Reyhana outshone the other; they matched perfectly.
When Reyhana returned to the room, they bantered about visitors she’d received. She brought him food, and when he hinted he wanted her to feed him, she obliged. They chatted, laughed, and ate until he was full.
Reyhana and Ahmad’s love had faced heavy opposition. Her mother disapproved because Ahmad was from a humble background. Ahmad had lost his father young, was raised with difficulty by relatives, and worked as a low-paid private school teacher. Reyhana came from a wealthy, educated family, and only her father supported the marriage. Eventually, her mother reluctantly agreed. Ahmad’s own mother had initial doubts but accepted when she saw their love.
Evening Together
By 8:18 p.m., after returning from the mosque, Ahmad found Reyhana in the bedroom. He rested his head on her lap, complaining about troublesome students. She soothed him, telling him he was her peace. He told her she held a special place in his heart.
When she asked about visiting his mother, he fell asleep mid-conversation. She smiled, took a photo of him, and later woke him gently at 9:30 p.m. They prepared for bed, teasing each other about weight before turning off the light and sleeping in each other’s arms.
Morning Routine
As usual, they rose at 5:30 a.m. Reyhana prayed, then helped him get ready for work. She found a book for him, prepared breakfast, and packed him off with a kiss and prayers for safe travels. After cleaning the house, she went back to sleep.
Midday
Reyhana woke at 11:10 a.m., bathed, and dressed in a blue material outfit. She started cooking semovita with spinach soup. Around noon, she called Ahmad; he stepped out of class to answer but quickly returned to his students.
By 2:23 p.m., Ahmad was home. Reyhana, fresh-faced with powder and lip gloss, rushed to open the door. He hugged her immediately.
> “People outside might see us!” she warned.
“There’s no one here, Azizaty,” he replied.
He teased her about missing him, while she laughed.
