ABOUT THIS BOOK
Description
In utter panic and shock, she stared at him lying sprawled on the ground in a pool of blood, without so much as a finger twitching. She shifted her gaze down to her long pink dress, which was completely soaked in blood as if a cow had just been slaughtered... "Innalillahi wa Inna ilaihi raji'un (Surely we belong to Allah and to Him we shall return)," was all her mouth could utter.
Terrified, she dropped the knife in her hand and bolted for the door, her heart pounding violently in her chest. She twisted the door handle of the room, and fortunately, found it unlocked. Without wasting a second, she sprinted away, rushing down from the third floor and leaping over the stairs in the dead silence of the night. The hour was late, and the entire place was quiet, illuminated only by the bright electric lights. By the time she reached the ground floor, she hadn't bumped into a single soul. Wasting no time, she darted through the main entrance of the guest house and made a run for the front gate.
Upon stepping outside the guest house gate, she found herself on a main road and immediately scanned her surroundings, searching for a route to escape and save her life. She took a right turn, running at full speed without stopping. After covering a considerable distance without growing tired or encountering anyone, the sudden beam of a flashlight made her heart leap into her mouth. She froze for a moment, turning around with the intention of switching routes, when out of nowhere a voice barked, "Hey, stop right where you are!" The voice echoed harshly through the stillness of the night.
Her heart beat even faster, her panic intensifying far beyond what she was already feeling, to the point where she felt as though she might wet herself on the spot. As they approached her, she couldn't make a single muscle move due to sheer fear and terror. If this wasn't a dream, then the people advancing toward her were undoubtedly security officers.
She stood frozen in place until they reached her, all of them shining their lights on her from head to toe. One of them demanded in a stern voice, "Hey, where are you coming from at this time of night?"
She merely stared at him like a mute, her body trembling as if she were freezing cold. She remained silent, offering no response even after two minutes had passed. Seeing that she had no intention of answering his question, he hurled another one at her, "What is that on your clothes—is that blood? What is it from?"
She glanced down at her outfit, then raised her eyes to look at him once more without uttering a word, sweat dripping off her as though water were being poured over her.
The policeman who was questioning her turned to look at one of the three standing by, watching the scene unfold, and said, "Sergeant."
"Yes, sir!"
"Arrest her. Put her in the vehicle and let's take her to the office."
"Okay, sir," he replied, turning quickly. Within two minutes, he returned holding handcuffs, moving to place them on her.
The policeman stopped him, "Don't put them on her. We don't have proof that she's a criminal yet. Just march her forward and put her in the vehicle—let's go."
