Haseenah’s Arrival and Hamma’s Reaction
Haseenah arrived, and Aisha immediately noticed the excitement on her face. At the same time, Hamma’s expression hardened completely; all the warmth in his face vanished. Today, Hamma appeared more serious, almost stern, showing no mercy. He asked in a firm tone:
“What are you doing here?”
Haseenah quickly replied, “Please forgive me, Prince. Just give me a few minutes of your time. I came to offer condolences from the Emir. Aunty Taiwo told me you were in Argentina, and I came for a project from our office. I thought I could come home, pay my respects, and also apologize to you. I’m sure she gave you the message I sent.”
Hamma sat beside Aisha, trying to calm his anger, while Aisha’s mind raced—she realized this was Haseenah Ambursa, the former girlfriend she had heard about from Kiki. She stood to greet her, but Hamma held her hand and looked into her eyes, asking, “Where are you going?” Haseenah explained she was just bringing water and drinks, but Hamma dismissed her, saying, “Sit down. She’s not here for drinks; she’s leaving now.”
Aisha’s heart sank, recalling the love story Hamma once shared with Haseenah, which had caused him to delay marriage for thirteen years. She worried that Haseenah’s return might stir old bonds and feelings. Frustration overwhelmed her, especially knowing Haseenah had somehow obtained Hamma’s address in Argentina and arrived unannounced.
Apology and Reconciliation
Haseenah requested privacy to speak with Hamma. He looked at her coldly and said, “I have got nothing to hide from my wife.”
This shocked Haseenah; she realized that this was a new, mature Hamma Abdulrasheed, different from the man she once knew. Her body tensed, but she started speaking, apologizing for what had happened thirteen years ago. She expressed regret and admitted that fate had brought them this way, not lack of care or intention.
Looking Hamma in the eyes, she said, “Kehinde, you will always be the one that has my heart. I am so sorry for being the reason you stayed so long without a wife. I’ve learned my lesson, and I promise nothing like that will happen again.”
Hamma watched her wipe away tears, seeing the sincerity and regret in her eyes. He noticed her humility and the wisdom that had replaced her youthful beauty. Seeing Aisha before him, dressed elegantly and innocently, he felt grateful to God for her presence. He knew forgiving Haseenah was the right choice.
He said gently, “Haseenah, God has forgiven us completely. Yes, I was hurt, but now I hold no ill feelings toward you. God has blessed me with Aisha-Siddiqah.” He glanced at Aisha and continued, “I forgive you, Haseenah, also because of Aisha. Without meeting her, I would not have realized this blessing.”
Haseenah nodded, tears in her eyes, whispering, “Thank you,” realizing that Prince Kehinde had grown beyond past grievances, stronger and fairer than she could have imagined.
Aisha’s Confusion and Hamma’s Assurance
Prince Hamma then turned to Aisha, taking her hand as she hesitated, saying, “I don’t feel like going anywhere anymore.”
“Why?” he asked.
“Just… I’m not comfortable,” she replied, loosening her headscarf.
Hamma tried to understand her feelings, recalling her mention of Ishaq earlier. He explained, “Aisha, Haseenah is a long chapter in my past that I prefer not to dwell on. Please understand; don’t read too much into it.”
Aisha responded confidently, “It’s fine, Hamma. No need to explain. She came to apologize; she’s the love of your past, but I am here now. I don’t feel threatened, and I won’t let it affect me. Let’s just move on.”
As Haseenah departed, Aisha felt a mix of relief, curiosity, and a strange pang of jealousy, realizing she was becoming aware of the depth of Hamma’s love and loyalty. Hamma called after Aisha, but she smiled, waved, and moved on, leaving a quiet sense of closure for all three of them.
