Description
Silent Reflections at the Door
She sat at the door of her room, her mind deep in thought. The house was quiet, as her husband had left early in the morning to work at the truck repair yard. That had become their routine—he worked all day, and when he returned, they cooked and ate together. It was a hard life, a cycle of waiting and surviving.
Though life wasn’t easy, she found comfort in the silence. But today was different. Her heart felt heavier than usual.
A Message from the Past
Her phone buzzed. She hesitated but then picked it up. It was a message from Abdallah—someone from her past. Her hand trembled slightly as she opened it. The message was simple, asking how she had been and if they could talk. Her heart skipped a beat.
Abdallah had once been everything to her. Memories came rushing in—some warm, some painful. She didn't know how to respond. But curiosity overpowered fear.
An Unexpected Meeting
After several exchanged messages, Abdallah asked to see her. Though reluctant at first, something within her gave in. Maybe it was the loneliness, or the unresolved feelings—whatever it was, she agreed.
They met later that day. Abdallah looked the same—calm, composed, but his eyes carried a storm of emotions. They sat in silence before she finally spoke.
“You left without a word. After everything…”
He looked down, guilt written across his face. “I had to. But I never stopped thinking about you.”
Tension Rekindled
They talked for what felt like hours. As the conversation deepened, so did the tension between them. The unspoken emotions from the past began to surface. Every glance, every breath carried weight.
He reached out and gently held her hand. She didn't pull back. It was as though time had stopped, and all the confusion melted into raw emotion.
Suddenly aware of the danger, she stood. “I should go.”
He nodded, though his eyes pleaded otherwise. “I just wanted to see you again… even if just for a moment.”
Back to Reality
That night, she sat on her bed, lost in thought. The warmth of Abdallah’s presence still lingered, and it left her conflicted. She looked at her husband’s photo on the wall and sighed deeply.
“Why now?” she whispered to no one.
She thought about her marriage—the silence, the routine, the emotional distance. Then she thought about Abdallah—the unfinished love, the spark still alive.
Her phone buzzed again. It was Abdallah: “I’m not trying to ruin your life. I just want to know if we still have a chance. Even as friends.”
She stared at the screen, her heart torn.
The Decision
For days, she avoided replying. But she couldn’t escape her thoughts. Every corner of her home reminded her of what was missing—warmth, passion, connection.
Eventually, she typed back: “We can talk. But that’s all.”
She didn’t know where the road would lead. All she knew was that she needed to find herself again—whether through healing her marriage or confronting the past.
What she couldn't deny anymore was that something had changed… and there was no turning back.
