ABOUT THIS BOOK

Description

Abu Cikin Duhu Complete Hausa Novel
In the attic, her grandmother Asabe's voice echoes, a harbinger of turmoil. The girl avoids entering the house, for Asabe's quarrels are known to all but their mother, who remains oblivious to such disturbances. Each morning, Asabe's tirades disrupt their slumber, and even now, her voice discussing cooking matters with their mother reaches the girl's ears.

Despite the day's exhaustion, hunger, and thirst, the girl finds herself with child, having not rested since dawn. She treks home from school, a considerable distance, on foot. Abu's presence does nothing to halt Asabe's ongoing diatribe.

As evening approaches, the community dwindles, and the mother prepares the meal. Four logs and a pot of water are placed on the fire, the embers stirred until warmth permeates.

Salman Abune's words cause a stir, except for the mother, who, despite her confusion and distress, remains resolute. Asabe speaks, "Good morning, if you have a daughter, you understand a mother's pain. Seek out those with food to spare."

Niko, concerned for me, departs, indifferent to my worries. The women before you, hearts broken, yet you drink the city's finest and bear children. When strength wanes, who will aid him, knowing an heir awaits?

Daily pregnancies, milk spilled—how can he escape the growing theft, seeking none but God's guidance? A man born is expected to assist elsewhere.
She gazes in astonishment, removing her worn school shoes, the sun and long walks taking their toll, with no funds for replacements. Despite her youth, her determination has brought her this far, never faltering until now, as she contemplates leaving.
