A Visit to Janan
 
The story begins with the narrator trying to reach her friend, Janan. After a few unanswered rings, Janan picks up, explaining she's waiting for her Aunty Raheemah before leaving. Frustrated, the narrator insists she must come quickly. Eventually, Janan agrees, and they plan to meet at the main entrance of their hostel at ABU Zaria.
 
Meeting at the Campus
 
Dressed in coordinated traditional attire, the narrator heads out. She finds Janan near the parking lot, and they share a warm hug. Janan informs her that her brother, Yaya Bilal, will drop them off since he also has business at FCE.
 
On the Way
 
They ride in a car filled with a citrus-strawberry scent and cool AC. As Sheikh Malam Minshawee’s recitation plays, the narrator quietly follows along in her heart. Once at Kongo campus, they thank Yaya Bilal and proceed to a well-attended lecture by Dr. Bilal Philips.
 
The Lecture Experience

She dreams of a gentle voice expressing love. But suddenly, Janan wakes her up, laughing that she was speaking in her sleep. The narrator, nostalgic and emotional, reflects that it’s been a long time since she had such dreams. Janan leaves with her boyfriend, Is'haq, and the narrator returns to her dorm.

After watching Zee World and relaxing, the narrator hears her roommate Aylah’s tale about a wedding drama involving a second wife. They discuss co-wife dynamics. While Aylah is optimistic about peaceful coexistence with a co-wife, the narrator strongly disagrees.

As night deepens, the narrator listens to Sheikh Ahmad Suleiman’s recitation to calm her restless heart. Her hatred for the idea of a co-wife consumes her. Memories flood back of the night her father married another woman.

Her mother protests but is overruled. Devastated, her mother leaves alone. That night, for the first time, the narrator sleeps without her mother’s warmth.
 
Conclusion
 
The narrator’s trauma from that night planted the seeds of her hatred for co-wife situations. Her pain, unresolved and vivid, drives her fierce declaration: she would rather die than share her husband with another woman.
